"I stayed here for work purposes being a short 20 minute commute to Grt Baddow. My work colleague and I were made very welcome. The place was spotlessly clean. Had a lovely bar downstairs for drinks and pub snacks and did a fantastic breakfast in the morning.. I would recommend the full English although there were alternatives, all in all I had a very good stay. I would definitely return to the Oakland if I was working in the area.."

"I was able to check in online before I arrived at The Kicking Dickey. The staff were very helpful and friendly along with the pub which I thought was very welcoming. My room was at the rear of the property so away from any noise. The room itself was comfortable and well maintained, I think it might of been a converted stable. Nice functional bathroom with a shower and a very comfortable single bed. Lots of free parking outside the property. All in all well worth a stay."

"location nice, rooms hot in summer. doors in halls of hotel need cleaning/paint, looking scruffy. Staff in restaurant especially during breakfast inefficient. took more then 30m to get yoghurt served.... other tables with 6 guests were served 2 dishes each in meantime. waitress should identify better the customers i.e. business travel single person or 6 guests on holiday. staff at night waiting behind bar, almost felt like they avoided contact with customer. "The rooms are massively out dated, one of our windows wouldn't open and it was incredibly hot, the evening we stayed there, a fan as a minimum would of been helpful. Pub adjacent was nice enough and the food as a bar snack was nice"

"Check in was great, nice & easy and the room was ready straight away. The room was a twin, a great size but very tired. The carpet could do with changing and the shower sealant definitely needs re-doing as it was black in areas. Breakfast was plentiful, could have been warmer but nothing too drastic.
