"Wonderful place to stay if visiting albatross sanctuary or just for the experience of staying at the castle. We stayed in a lodge with a sea view . Decor was in-keeping with the castle and beds were comfortable. We had a tour of the castle included in our nightly rate which was interesting and before check-in we ate in the cafe where the food was delicious. The staff were friendly and welcoming Highly recommend."

"We had a lovely stay at the Westwood Lodge on the 22nd - 24th December. The lodge was huge, spotless, and very cosy with the log timber walls, very alpine! We were greeted by a super friendly hostess who was warm and welcoming and gave brilliant recommendations. We were also pleasantly surprised by the complimentary breakfast we received which was delicious!! Hot fresh eggs and all the usual continental sides and additions. "Uniquely designed and decorated! Renovated building with theme rooms and nostalgia items made for a fun stay. Check in and greeting by Tina was so friendly and helpful. Breakfast included was lovely with lots of options to start off the day! Location was fantastic, walking distance to great area to view this beautiful historic town. "The lodge is located in a very remote location, despite of getting groceries are so inconvenient, Blake showed great generosity and hospitality to all the guests, make us feel like staying in an old friend's house. Kitchen, bathroom, and bed linen are of 5-stars clean. If you're planning to go on the Hump Ridge Track, choose Rarakau Lodge for your pre-departure accommodation is definitely the best option. "
