Top South Fork State Recreation Area Hotel Reviews

Thunderbird Motel
6/10 Okay
"The Thunderbird is acute mid century style motel. The lobby is neat and the breakfast is pretty generous. The parking lot isn’t OK shape. The rooms are just OK but in need of fresh paint and repairs of such things as wood trim that is scratched and old. Also, the room wasn’t clean that well as I found change other things lying about the carpet. Sketch people staying at the motel and the surrounding area is questionable. "

Comfort Inn Elko
8/10 Good
"Affordable, older hotel but overall good condition. "

Holiday Inn Express & Suites Elko by IHG
8/10 Good
"Our only issue with the room was the bathroom door. I went to use it, and the door would not budge until I pulled really hard. It was sticking on the ground. This would be a terrible room for any elderly people as it was a difficult door to open and close. We ended up just leaving it halfway open, which meant we had to squeeze between the door and sink to get into and out of the bathroom. If we had stayed more than one night, I probably would have asked for a new room. Breakfast was good with several options. Overall, it was a good place to stay."

"Great food"

Shutters Hotel
8/10 Good
"Very friendly staff, clean room, good food. Furniture a bit uncomfortable and the heater unit in room was exceptionally loud. All in all a good stay. "

Esquire Inn
4/10 Poor
"Breakfast is minimal, but sufficient for me (oatmeal, cold cereal, apples, orange juice, pastries, yogurt).
I appreciated that they had a variety of pillows on the bed: thicker, thinner, and memory foam.
Room was clean. Could hear upstairs neighbor walking really loudly, but not a huge deal.
My issue is with the staff.
Checkout is at 11. I was on an important work call when at 9 or 9:30, there was loud banging on the door. I had to apologize to my boss and step away to get the door. I opened it to see the front desk attendant who said he thought I was gone since he didn’t see my car in the parking lot. There were only 6 cars, so if he didn’t see it then he didn’t look.
He finally left and I was able to finish my meeting. I hopped in the shower afterwards, and as I was getting out around 10:30 I heard insistent/loud knocking on the door again. I wrapped a towel around myself and before I could do anything else I saw the front door start opening.
I yelled out “Do I have until 11 or not!?” and the door was then quickly closed.
I have no idea why I would start being harassed to leave two hours before checkout time, and to have someone barging in my room when I’m in a towel is incredibly unnerving and completely unacceptable.
Otherwise this is a great budget option, but I will never come back due to the incompetence/complete lack of common sense and courtesy of the staff."

Maverick Hotel and Casino by Red Lion Hotels
8/10 Good
"Rooms were large with fridge and microwave. Everything was clean and the bed was comfortable. It’s an older hotel with some lingering smoke smell in the hallways. Casino and restaurant were nice - just dated. Would definitely stay there again. "

Ledgestone Suites Hotel Elko
10/10 Excellent
"Great hotel in a quiet and nice location. The kitchenette had the essentials plates, bowls, utensils, pots and pans. The bathroom was big and water pressure was great. I definitely would stay there again"

Quality Inn & Suites Elko
6/10 Okay
"There is no elevator or staff to help seniors with luggage to the cheap Expedia rooms on the 2nd floor."
