"We recently stayed at Fairmont Costa del Sol as a family with young children and, while the hotel has many strong qualities, our overall experience was mixed due to repeated operational issues.
First impressions were excellent. The hotel is modern, beautifully designed, very clean, and built with high-quality materials throughout. The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and stylish, with large bathrooms, electric curtains, and lovely views. The overall aesthetic of the property is impressive and feels luxurious.
The staff we encountered were generally polite, friendly, and clearly tried to help whenever possible. Unfortunately, it often felt like they were working within a system that lacked organisation and efficient management, which affected the guest experience repeatedly.
One of the biggest issues was transport around the resort. The hotel is built on a steep hillside, with many villas located far below the main reception, restaurants, and pool areas. We stayed in a lower villa area, and while the location was close to the beach, access to the main facilities was difficult with a pram and young children. Buggies were in very short supply throughout the stay, with waits often 20–30 minutes or more. Walking uphill was challenging, especially with children.
Housekeeping was another major frustration. On more than one occasion, despite requesting cleaning and contacting reception multiple times, the room was still not serviced by late afternoon or even evening. Basic items such"
