"The internet connection was good. All the staff were very friendly. The room was very clean and the taps and controls were sparkling in the bathroom. "
"I’ve just finished a three‑night stay at The Royal Maritime Hotel (arriving Friday 27 February, leaving Monday 2 March), and as this was my second visit, I’m pleased to report it was superb once again. I booked via hotels.com, and the total cost, £154.13 for three nights in a basic double with breakfast, is, frankly, an absolute bargain.
Room 203 was clean, surprisingly spacious, and more modern than I expected. It faces Queen Street, which is busy, so you’ll hear some noise if the window’s open, but with it closed, it’s blissfully quiet. The bathroom was clean and perfectly adequate; not the most up‑to‑date in the building, perhaps, but the shower was powerful and faultless.
The location is ideal for Wightlink if you’re heading to the Isle of Wight, just a five‑minute stroll, which was perfect for my family visit. There’s also a Co‑op directly opposite, which is handy for essentials.
I had an evening meal in the hotel and went for the chicken skewers, smash burger, and chocolate brownie. All three were delicious, and the service from the waitress was excellent."
"Unfortunately got placed in a room on the second floor, the same level and next to the gym. I got a really poor sleep as all you can hear into the night/early hours is dropping of weights from the gym.
Hotel would be great if you’re on another floor. It’s got a cool sports bar, decent gym and modern rooms.
Ask for a room away from the gym and it’d be good! "
"Room clean and basic. No drawer or wardrobe space so think it is better for no more than a nights stay. We stayed two nights and the bed was comfy and we had a great sleep. However, the bathroom can’t fit two people in it so expect to wait for a space to brush your teeth!"
"Lovely clean room, friendly staff, overall a brilliant stay.
The only issue we had was ordering room service! Too late for food from restaurant, but couldn't order room service until 11pm, we ordered an deliveroo in the end!"
