The Royal Inn Beach Hotel Hutchinson Island

2/10 Terrible

"I do not know why there are so many good reviews about this hotel because my experience was very poor. First off, I do give five stars for location, could not ask for a better place then right on Hutchinson Island. Beach, several bars/pubs within walking distance, I was able to catch the sunrise on the jetty. Yes, a great location. The hotel itself is old and run down. I was given a key card but the swipe mechanism on the door was broken so was given a standard key. Hallways look worn, and need a lot of work to touch up. The door jamb was rusted and bent, I had to slam the door several time before it would lock. Furniture in room again worn and needs replacement desk chair wobbles, desk drawer would not open. Rusting trim in the bathroom. The sliding door to the balcony does not slide. WiFi was marginal speed test down 3.10, up 3.53. New smart TV in the room was a plus, the last occupant forgot to sign out of this Premium YouTube account (I used my own credentials for other streaming services). The last kicker was $16 a day resort fee for use of the pool and patio – really? I was booked for two days and did not get any maid service, so unmade bed and used towels for two days. This places needs a boat load of TLC. Sorry, I highly do not recommend."

"The location was amazing, and the hotel looks beautiful at night. I’m not sure if it was because we’re a young couple and covered in tattoos, but we were definitely treated differently than the rest of the guests. The room was not cleaned the entire time we were there for the three nights, I even requested it at the front desk and it never happened. When we first got to the hotel, there was no one at valet to help when someone finally showed up he said “if you want just go ahead and park over there in handicap and if you need me to help you with your bags to your room, you’re gonna need me to give you a minute because I’m helping someone else right now”. He then proceeded to get us a luggage cart and show us how to use it instead of just taking us to our room! The room was dirty and falling apart. When we went to the beach, I asked if we just pick a seat or if we’re assigned and he just pointed and said sit anywhere and then we proceeded to watch two other guests come up as they got both of their chairs brushed off towels laid down and umbrellas put up. As we proceeded to sit by two chairs with a bunch of trash surrounding them. We were never offered towels or drinks at the pool, while we watched the other guests get served. Yes, we had our blue bracelets on the entire time."
