"Stayed at the Grand many times. This time we felt things weren’t to the usual standard. Close to our room the area was being decorated. There were signs apologising but we did wonder, given that the hotel didn’t appear to be ‘to capacity’ why we couldn’t be in an area not being decorated. We were also never far from the noise of pigeons in our room which wasn’t great. At breakfast, we are usually asked if we want anything over and above the buffet. This time, no one did that or indeed...

"Incredible location across from the beach. Room was spacious and had a view of the beach and the pier. These older buildings don’t have AC but a fan was provided as was a small portable fridge. We didn’t try the bar or restaurant so we can’t rate those. We forgot some important items in our room on checkout and the staff were amazing. They contacted us right away when they found the items and offered to have a staff member deliver them to us. Really helpful."

"The Staff we had dealings with all good and helpful, food ordinary, common areas shabby but ok, room not good particularly the bathroom. No decent beer, best on offer was bottles of tribute. Bars closed at 11."

"Great location on the seafront - pack your swimmers for a quick dip. The rooms are clean, comfy and well appointed. Excellent shower in the room we had. The fresh milk on check in is a great touch. The team on check in and check out were very helpful and polite"

"The hotel just next to the beach, beautiful view from the window although the windows can’t be opened, room are clean and bed are comfortable. Limited amenities such as toiletries (toothpaste, bins) no telephone in the room, no fan as well but it’s ok for the price it’s offered. Feedback for the key - it’s quite diffuse to lock the door, we need to figure it out how to lock the door, may be making more simple?. And if possible to have internal phone to connect us with the reception in case we...

"My fiancée and I stayed at The Alfriston during the last weekend of half-term. The welcome was pleasant, and we appreciated the complimentary glass of wine. Unfortunately, almost every part of the stay had issues. Our room was small, overlooking the spa pool, with fairly standard amenities. Dinner was disappointing. The sole server was friendly but repeatedly forgot our order. Drinks took 20–30 minutes to arrive, the rosé was served warm despite which is quite bad when it costs £12–15 a glass....
