The extensive castle grounds are beautiful in summer, and include a rose garden which is lovely in full bloom. Definitely worth a visit for history-lovers and nature-lovers alike. What stood out for us was the support we had. My daughter's baby was born very premature in the local hospital. I spoke to the hotel and they were willing to give us a good price on a room as we didn't know how long we would need it for. They gave us a family room with an extra bed. They put a fridge in the room for expressed milk to be kept until it could be taken to the hospital. The hotel location was perfect as it's walking distance. The staff were extremely helpful and supportive. Mina, Brooke, Emma, Andrea are just some of the names. Thank you for taking some of the stress away from a very worrying and stressful time. We are truly grateful.

The room was OK just. 1 very loose light fitting couldn’t open the window ( loose handle) Furniture very knocked about but it was clean enough. Dinner was OK but breakfast was very good. Staff were friendly and helpful. It did the job and was cheap enough.

Good hotel but could do with a refurb

The hotel as a whole was ok and comparable to premier inn, the decor is quite old and could do with a freshen up. The room was well equipped, with tea and coffee, flat screen TV and plenty of toiletries.
