Very nice and recomendable little hotel!

Close to perfect. The hostes were very nice and the location was good and close to everything. The hotel is almost perfect, but there's always something little to make it even better. One thing is that there could (should?) be atleast one English channel on the TV (CCN, BBC World News, or...). A/C would also be an improvement and maybe a standing up shower possibility. These are minor things, but nevertheless.

Une belle parenthèse quand on travaille !

Sandrine et Pascal sont des hôtes très agréables et sympathiques. Très à l’écoute et soucieux du détail ! L’endroit est magnifique et les chambres sont spacieuses et aménagées avec goût. Maison d’hôtes située au centre de Rochefort et pourtant plus calme que certaines situées en dehors des villes.

Charming guesthouse renovated with taste

Luxurious guest house decorated with taste. Comfortable king size bed, modern bathroom and the charm of and old house with a pool. Our hosts, Sandrine and Pascal thought of all the details and were very helpful in our discovery of the area. Could not recommend it enough!

A beautifully restored historic building in the heart of Rochefort. Perfect location. The attention to detail in the fittings and fixtures was exceptional. Very warm and friendly welcome from the hosts, particularly Pascal who was incredibly engaging and helpful to us in providing some gem locations and places to eat in the vicinity of Rochefort. The Eames room did not disappoint and you can see the pride in which the house has been filled with original pieces from past era. Would highly recommend. Don’t forget to ask to see the Austin Healey too

Tellement bien qu'on y retournera plus longtemps

Ce court séjour d'une nuit s'est tellement bien passé que cela nous a donné envie de revenir pour un séjour plus long. Non seulement les hôtes sont charmant et au petits soins, mais leur domaine est magnifique, savamment décoré, offrant un havre de paix en plein cœur historique de la ville. Rochefort a tellement d'atouts souvent méconnus que nous regardons déjà nos agendas pour en profiter au plus vite. Je recommande vivement cette adresse, pour un passage comme nous ou un plus long séjour.

Voyage de noces au paradis

Sejour plus que magnifique. Comment suitter ce petit coin de paradis sans un enorme pincement au coeur. L'accueil de Sandrine et Pascal est exceptionnel. On se sent en famille. Ils sont aux petits soins pour nous. Toujours là pout nous conseiller un bon petit resto, une activité,... La chambre était magnifique également. Tout confort. Baignoire à jets. Petit dejeuner très copieux et varié avec des produits frais de la région. Que dire de plus? Si vous voulez passer un excellent séjour ( à deux pas des attractions les plus connues de la ville) dans une merveilleuse maison n'hesitez pas.

Geweldig verblijf in het centrum van Rochefort. De vriendelijke gastvrouw- en heer doen er alles aan om je verblijf een succes te maken. Alle kamers zijn anders ingericht en smaakvol gedecoreerd met 20e eeuws design. Er is een fijn zwembad. Kortom een ideale plek om hiervandaan Rochefort te bezoeken.

A stylish very chambres d'Hotes

My wife and I spent a delightful six days stay at L'esprit du 8 in Rochefort which proved to be the best chambre d'hôtes we have ever stayed at in France. The owners just seemed to have the balance just right having created an impressive, but charming, residence from early 19th century mansion close to the centre of this historic city. This lovely building has been restored with empathy and yet with all the facilities that one would expect of a modern guest house that include a luxury ensuite shower room, coffee/tea in the rooms, cable TV, a lovely swimming pool and a really rather good continental breakfast each morning. We also had a small balcony to our room which gave us a view of the street/town. The interior design celebrates a stylish mix of antique and vintage and fixtures and fittings that will appeal to anyone that enjoys retro collectables. The owners Sandrine and Pascal are attentive, without being intrusive and seem only too happy to make sure that your stay is relaxing and enjoyable. Our stay was blessed with excellent weather and so we spent a very relaxing time around the swimming pool whilst also exploring the historic port and town centre which is a short walk away. This region has a huge amount to explore and so having a car is advisable or you can hire bikes from the owners. We would suggest visits to include La Rochelle (which is a great port to see) and L'île d'Oléron. We would highly recommend this chamber d’hotes to anyone visiting the area!

Notre meilleur séjour

C’est le meilleur logement que nous ayons eu depuis longtemps. Pascal et Sandrine sont de vrais hôtes a la fois très professionnels et très humains. La maison d’hôtes est spacieuse,belle piscine. Le petit déjeuner est excellent et beaucoup d’hôtels dits de standing pourraient s’en inspirer. Mention spéciale pour le fromage différent chaque jour le pain et surtout les chouquettes! L’emplacement est idéal pour découvrir Rochefort car le centre ville et la Place Colbert sont à 5 mn. Très beau marché 3 fois par semaine.

What a gem!

A last minute booking brought us to this unexpectedly beautiful house, which has been transformed from a rather imposing government residence to a very stylish, modern gem. Each of the four bedrooms is inspired by a modern design icon- we stayed in the Gae Aulenti room, named after the famous Italian architect. The room is very light and spacious, with a very comfortable bed and a large bathroom with jacuzzi bathtub (but no shower). Breakfast is served in a large room with beautiful stained glass windows, at a communal breakfast table. The friendliness of the hosts and other guests made it feel like a special private party! Breakfast itself was delicious and ample - especially the oven fresh bread and the local bio pear juice. It was great to have such a good choice of restaurants within walking distance (even on a Monday evening). The fascinating Corderie Royale is also easily visited on foot. Our only regrets were only to be able to stay one night, and not having time to take advantage of the swimming pool. Thanks for a lovely stay!
