Great location and hotel

Hotel was very comfortable and walking distance to the beach. A lot of cute cafes and good restaurants in the area that are also walking distance. Staff was extremely nice and helpful. Highly recommend booking here.

This hotel was recommended by a friend who lives in Rio and I understand why. The location is near the Ipanema beach, safer than Copacabana, the rooms and facilities are nice and clean, and the staff is friendly and helpful. We reserved the 6 hour city/Cristo tour with them which was a good choice. We also enjoyed the spa for massages which were also very nice.

Comfortable stay

Stayed two nights here after having spent two nights at a different hotel in Copacabana. The difference in both neighbourhood and accommodation were immediate. The staff were very welcoming and offered a welcome drink which I had on the rooftop before my room was ready. Great views from the roof and my room as well (could see Cristo Redentor). Had dinner and breakfast from the adjoining restaurant which were both very good.

The Mar Ipanema has a very good location; near shopping and just two blocks off the beach. Good value, clean, quiet, comfortable, nice restaurant, great exersize room, friendly staff.

Sanitary …& quiet … staff was helpful and very pleasant … The gym was fantastic as well as the breakfast although I wish they had mango slices but not a big deal …Wish I had stayed here for my entire trip instead but I’ll know for next time which will be soon anyway

We stayed in a regular room, everything was good but the AC. Not sure if it was because it was hot outside but AC was at 17° C and it felt like 23 C. A central metal piece of the window was loose and it make some noise as the AC was an old model and it shakes while it was working. Real highlight here is that everything else was fantastic.

Noise isolation non-existent

The room was facing the main street and noise isolation was non-existent. In fact, there were visible physical holes between the window and the wall, which let all the noise from the street inside the room. Since this was a Friday night and there are night clubs next to the hotel, it felt like I was on the dance floor and not in my bed. Noise islolation between the connecting rooms was also non-existebt. The guy next door had a stomach bug and was very ill all night. I heard -everything-. Breakfast was ok/average. Staff were kind and helpful. Sadly, I cannot recommend this hotel.

This is a nice hotel with very friendly staff. It is a little overpriced now, but prices have increased a lot in Rio. You are paying for the location, near the beach and in one of the safest neighborhoods in Rio.

Location is awesome. Beds and room were clean. Staff is friendly and helpful. I’d stay here again because the price is reasonable for the location. But - the Sink would back up. Grout on shower tiles was black. WiFi has no password so it was overwhelmed and useless.
