"Great location; easy to get to downtown Monterey, and to Carmel, Highway 1, Point Lobos, Big Sur, etc. There is a Trader Joe's 2 blocks away and many services close by. The room was clean and nicely decorated, with a large comfortable bed. The room was small, but pleasant and had everything we needed, including a small refrigerator. The down sides were: Rooms are NOT well insulated. We heard the people walking around in the room above ours, and up and down the stairs next to our room,...

"Beautiful property. Very convenient location. Walking distance to Fisherman’s Wharf, Cannery Row, and downtown. Staff was helpful and kind. Room was clean and cozy but there was no AC and the walls are thin. The room was a little run down but still well maintained and clean. I would still stay here again."

"Over all were good. Nice and clean. Two points of concern. Firstly breakfast area was cramped even when there were not many guests. Secondly light sensor in toilet was either set incorrectly or malfunctioning. It would shut down light every 30 seconds. It could not detect people inside shower room. We had to slide open shower door every 30 seconds or taking shower in complete darkness. If it happened only to our room then it should be fixed before we arrived. "My daughter goes to CSUMB and this is the 2nd time staying here.. we’ve been in Monterey a lot and this is the only hotel (out of a lot) that I LOVE. This will be our hotel when i visit my daughter, and move her in every year."

"Kind owners/keepers, overall clean property, just minor issues with left over tape on the wall from what I imagine decorations that were there previously, some dirt smudges on the paint around window and coffee maker did not work. Still fine for an overnight stay, quiet overall and safe location. Comfortable beds, but too high for little ones as there is hard floor and the beds are higher than normal. Good location."

"Unfortunately our room was on bottom floor next to stairs, elevator and lobby. Very very noisy all day and night. Staff said they were fully booked so nothing could be done and did not offer any sort of refund. Shouldn’t be charging full rate for a poorly placed room subject to so much noise. The room was nice and clean and the location was perfect but will never go back due to the noise."
