Beautiful hidden gem, a must for anyone looking for somewhere around the Plymouth and surrounding area, or for a golfing break. Staff very friendly and accommodating, chef and food incredible. Can't recommend enough.

We found it difficult to find the place but on arriving we were welcomed. There was a little confusion about the rooms that we ordered but we soon settled. The rooms were clean and well furnished but I was a little concerned about the 'Not drinking water' by the tap. The Wifi did not work and although the web site suggested that we would have a free breakfast, there was none. The costs were comparatively high and the lack of breakfast should have meant we received some compensation, The confusion about the bill continued and there was some disagreement but I am confident that we have paid. It is unlikely that I will stay there again and I will not recommend the place to friends and colleagues,

House needs some TLC. Freezing cold bathroom

Staff seemed totally disorganized - perhaps new staff. Room was clean enough but lacked any personal touches - no pictures on bare walls etc. Comfortable bed but hard pillows. Freezing cold bathroom with heated towel rail (had to hunt to turn it on) which made no difference, Drafty bathroom windows with black mold on frames. Cold dining room for breakfast

Lovely staff and location

The staff could not have been friendlier or more accommodating. The menu is more basic than is shown on the website, but that suited us, and they responded to special requests very well. Really peaceful location with great views from the rooms that overlook the golf course and the countryside.

Staff was friendly, price was right. Breakfast was excellent and the view from the dining room over the golf course was excellent. No wifi in the cottages. No place in rooms to store clothing or gear, no surfaces to stack it on.

Some rooms filthy, carpets dangerous, smelt damp, menu on website not available. Staff very good, helpful but place needs update and rooms refurbished. Good breakfast. Beautiful setting

Übernachten ja, aber auswärts essen!

Wunderschönes Herrenhaus mit viel Charme. Schönes Restaurant/Frühstückszimmer mit weitem Blick auf den Golfplatz und Bäume. Sehr ruhig. Große hohe Zimmer mit stilechten Möbeln, neues angenehmes Badezimmer. Weniger gut: Badezimmertür blieb immer einen Spalt weit offen. Durchgang zum Kinderzimmer nur Türrahmen ohne Tür. Frühstück weniger gut, kein Obst bzw. nur mehlige Äpfel, Toast war ein Mal schimmelig und immer etwas verbrannt. Katastrophal: das Restaurant. Kleine Speisekarte und trotzdem mehrere Gerichte nicht oder nur teilweise bestellbar. Essen schmeckte nicht, war lauwarm und relativ teuer. Organisation katastrophal. An jedem Tisch lief etwas schief. Die wenigen Gäste unterhielten sich schon darüber, wer welche Ausreden für die diversen Mängel bekommen hatte. Wir dachten schon, wir wären bei einer britischen Version von "Verstehen Sie Spaß" gelandet. Reis zum Ratatouille war aus, als Alternative wurden uns Pommes angeboten. Wir einigten uns dann auf Couscous ... Noch nie so schlechtes Ratatouille gegessen, verkocht, gewürzt mit Nelke statt mit Kräutern, lauwarm - wenn man dann noch liest, wie die Arbeit des Kochs im Ringordner im Zimmer beschrieben wird, ist das wirklich nur noch Comedy!

Peace and quiet near the city

We were pleased to return to Welbeck Manor - it's a quiet retreat from the city and convenient for Dartmoor. This is not the place fro those who prefer the uniform anonymity for international chain hotels, but we enjoy the modest country house character of the place.

Stayed here whilst attending a friends child’s christening .Hotel rather tired,Room we stayed in had a new bed frame, sadly the mattress was smaller than the frame which meant you could catch yourself on the frame getting in or out of bed . Staff were really excellent, food was good if unimaginative. Hotel is situated in a really beautiful spot, wonderful views, hotel does have atmosphere which a lot of chain hotels do not.

This is a lovely peaceful place to stay, in walking distance to Dartmoor Zoo. The rooms are comfortable, the staff are friendly and helpful and the Manor house has lovely views.

Lovely Country retreat

Beautiful Countryside surrounding a Manor House designed by IK Brunel himself. Full of character and very friendly and helpful staff. Wifi very weak in some rooms.
