"We were only planning to stay one night at Ava lodge before traveling to Tongariro. But due to cyclone Vaianu we called Ava lodge and Joe was able to extend our stay a couple extra nights. Ava lodge was very nice, modern, clean and comfortable. Would definitely stay here again. Thanks Joe for helping us out 😀"

"This might be the prettiest place I ever stayed at. The scenery is spectacular. The hotel is just perfect. It's a beautiful country-house with exceptional food and the service is great. A++. I strongly recommend this. We did the horse and ATV tour and it's a must do. Fly into Wellington and rent a car to see the beautiful scenery on the 2 hr drive. I would love to return."

"Great location and friendly hosts. Watching the ships come and go from my bedroom window was lovely - view from breakfast room was even better. Nice walk along the point from the home.
I walked from the airport (no luggage) to the pub, had dinner and then walked home. Steep hill but quite manageable. Was not disturbed by the planes despite proximity to airport.
