Periyar National Park, also known as Periyar Tiger Reserve, is in the mountainous Western Ghats of Kerala, southern India. This wildlife sanctuary is home to tigers and a significant elephant population, as well as rare lion-tailed macaques, sambar deer, leopards and Indian bison. You're sitting on a boat with 60 other people, who then are all standing up and rushing to one side of the boat as a guide addresses that two Sambars are duelling. Langurs, egrets, wild boars, cormorants, are everywhere. Sad to not see a tiger nor an elephant, but still a cool experience!
