For the price you pay, it’s good value for money. Great facilities, right near the lake and if you’re in a dorm your area is relatively large compared to most hostels. Only let down was the really uncomfortable pillow provided and there tends to be lots of noisy children as they host soccer camps.

Comfy hostel in quiet area
A cute hostel with comfortable rooms and a good shared kitchen. The best thing that I wasn’t expecting was the hot bath!! It isn’t too far from Kyoto but there is very little to do in the area.. maybe more fun during high season? But if you’re looking to stay somewhere a bit out of town for good money this certainly is the place!!! Very homely and nice.

If you are looking for a remote lake get away in northern Otsu this is ideal. This location suits the out door adventure types who want to be away from Otsu city. The lake was an amazing place to swim. What also would be a Great Lake side party atmosphere and relaxation with a group of friends. Amazing cleanliness despite the overall facility being quite old. However rooms and common room air conditioned which was a life saver in the hight of a Japanese summer.
The Hostel is not located near any shops and not close to the train station so be prepared to do some serious walking or better rent a bike whilst you are there.
The hotel was conveniently located near the bicycle route. Also, it the lake was walking distance. (5min) The place was outdated and charged for most complementary items like towel and tool brush. There are not restaurants near the establishment so ensure to bring food. The hostel restaurant had only two options to pick from.

Disappointed
We booked this hostel because being so close to the lake and having access to the BBQs. Upon arrival we needed to take a 30 min train to the grocery store, bought supplies for the bbq. When coming back we saw the sign that it’s ¥1500 per person to use them. Rip off. We cooked upstairs for free. The room wasn’t very clean with many hairs. The onsen had many hairs. The staff were not friendly or welcoming. Very inconvenient place from the station with nothing close by. 30 min walk to the 7/11.
Very clean even this is not a new hotel. Stuff is very friendly. If you need a clean and comfortable place to stay, it is your good choice. Very beautiful view outside!
