I booked the room HOSHI KAN Deluxe with Tatami Area Ocean View 58sqm sleep 6 people through Expedia. Clearly stated “ Children can stay for free if using existing beds when occupying the parent or guardian's room” while booking. The hotel insists to charge extra $300 upon check in for my 5 and 8 yrs old (kids don’t need buffet, they only eat burgers and fries). Super dissatisfied with the inconsistent information.

Very commercialised and transactional

Too faraway to walk from Sora kan to the breakfast and dinner place at the Sugoinoi palace. Staff was not very friendly and hotel was too crowded. We felt like we were just one of many guests and not valued unlike some other small hotels in the region. Overall disappointed with the experience. To use the nice hotspring with view (Tanayu) and family hotspring pool, suggest to just buy a day ticket to use the facilities, which is much cheaper than staying there overnight.

Very good hotel, clean , beautiful, big room. 3 onsen bath. Good foods , I love the arcade area and the bowling . Good for family with kids. Staffs are nice too. 10 mins from Beppu station , they have shuttle bus to pick you up

We had a really great experience, Tana-yu and breakfast/dinner buffets are outstanding! Hoshi-kan room was super clean, spacious and enjoyed the purified water! Highly recommend!

Service staff was excellent. Had stayed in Nijikan and Hoshi Kan on separate nights. Staff had helped to transfer my bags and brought over my beverage that I had left in the fridge to the new room. Thoughtful gesture that had impressed me.
