The price was very reasonable and the onsen was good. The property is a little bit older and in need of a refresh, but the service was very good and the breakfast was tasty.
Not helpful or accommodating to International visitor or seniors. Need at least 1 staff who is fluent in English.
Need step, towel and tub bars and safety features for senior travelers.
Led to believe this hotel was in city of Nikko
Not 30 minutes away by train. Be clear about location.

The reception counter staff did not notice that I had already made full payment while booking on Hotel.com and demanded for my credit card to pay my room charge. When I realized that I immediately stopped her from charging on my credit card but it was too late. It created me lots of trouble to contact the bank for cancellation of the transaction.
The service at the hotel was great! There was a very friendly old uncle ushering us to the carpark opposite the hotel. We even had a free room upgrade which was a bonus! Also, when we feedback that the wifi was not working, the staff assured that they were looking into it. It was not empty words and the wifi was really fixed by the next morning.
The room was clean and spacious, and the public onsen was maintained in good condition as well. The only thing is that this hotel was within the Kinugawa Onsen area, which had a tollgate for entrance by car. We were not aware about this, and each time we drove in and out, we had to be charged 360 yen.
Biggest problem with the stay is that if you didn't buy dinner with the room, although we did purchase breakfast with the reservation, that there is no place to eat at the hotel on a walk-in basis, and food establishments in Kinugawa-Onsen town all appeared to close around 1630-1700, after walking most of the area for an hour or so looking. Leaving 7-11 sandwiches, etc. as your only option. This of course could have been due to being early in the tourist season?? Area was a virtual ghost town after 1700. Having said that the Onsen was great, staff were charming and helpful, numerous things like Edo Wonderland, Tobu World Square, Monkey School, etc. to enjoy during the day. Overall a great and enjoyable experience,
Nice location,Good breakfast.
Hotel located near kinugawa onsen station
Close to kigawa river. You can hear river sound in your room.all staff are nice.
This was a pleasant first stop in Japan, very quiet and peaceful. The room was spacious, not too modern, but very clean and comfortable with a great view of the nearby hills and forest.
The bathroom was a little small (but in Japanese style, as everything is small), but clean.
I enjoyed the included meals in my package, it was helpful as I was jet-lagged and did not want to search for nearby food.
I tried an onsen for the first time, and it was very relaxing.
One difficult thing was communication, the staff's English is OK, but not great. But, we made it work! I would come back again, as it is near the train stop and I can go to nearby areas with ease.
Hotel staffs r nice, very kind, hot spring is good, but... there r too many insects in this hotel... I guess this hotel facilities can prevent that with some spray or sth...
I and my friend were afraid to go out during night time...
Only a minor comment. There's a section of passage from the main building to the cottages without a cover. When we go back to our rooms after dinner, it is raining and we need to borrow umbrellas from the hotel.
