Staff were friendly and breakfast was superb! The place is a little outdated, but it was comfortable enough and clean.

Great place for people on a budget, I had the en-suite and it was very comfortable, a bit too cold in the evening and too warm in the morning but apart from that a great place!

Okay

The meal (breakfast) was good but I was unable to sleep because of traffic noise. The room was not cleaned daily. The TV was big but it was struggle to get the remotes to control the TV. The host was very friendly and jovial.

Top host, top breakfast, top weekend

Stopped here during our recent trip to Newcastle for the rugby, perfect for what we needed, 10 minute walk from the Metro station. The host was brilliant, smashing fella who was very friendly from the minute we walked through the door to the minute we left, very helpful in assisting us with travel/getting to places etc. Very accomodating and helpful too after a mix up with bookings, moved us to another room which actually helped us in the end. Actually asked us what time we wanted Breakfast rather than giving us a set time and as we had been at the rugby all day on the Saturday we chose a later breakfast so we could have a lie in, this was no problem and once again cannot fault the service we recieved, breakfast was lovely if the dining room was a little on the small side but as we were the last ones in it wasn't an issue. The room we had was at the top and was a couple of flights of stairs down to the shared toilet and shower, not the best situation but again wasn't a problem to our party, all had a decent nights sleep so again no complaints. Parts of the building could do with a bit of a clean/some TLC but for the price we paid we got excellent customer service, a good breakfast and a decent sleep so they pale into insignificance. All in all a pleasant stay and will definitely stop here again given chance.

Convenient location

Very friendly hosts, B&B very close to South Shields metro and ocean road. Also close to coast. Would highly recommend staying here. Rooms clean, breakfast freshly cooked and hosts are very helpful. Only 30 minutes by Metro to centre of. Recasted or 50 minutes by metro to the airport

Just what we needed

Friendly staff, comfortable bed, large room, lovely breakfast, convenient for all we needed. On a main road, so some background noise, but we slept well.

ニューキャッスルまでバスで１時間

ニューキャッスルに滞在したつもりが、バスで１時間もかかった海沿いとは、行ってみて、びっくりだった。ニューキャッスルで検索して出たので、市外だとは信じて 疑わなかった。 部屋は綺麗だったが、夜は、スタッフが誰もいなくなって、ホテルを訪ねてきた客の 応対に出るハメになってしまった。 冷蔵庫もあり、シンクの横には、コンロがあったので、火が使えるかと思ったら、 ただの飾りで、使えなかった。 混乱するので、あのコンロは置かないでほしい。 部屋は綺麗で、清潔だった。

athol hotel review

this was a nice hotel. Very friendly chap who runs it.Lovely cooked breakfast. quiet a basic friendly place for families to stay. no en suite and a lot of stairs.

Our host was really really helpful & very nice! Had great breakfast in the morning before hitting the road. We were staying in a very big spacious room, location wise - hotel was just few minutes walk from the town centre & probably 5mins walk from the sea front.

For a B&B it was very nice! The room was comfortable and the location was nice because it was short bus rides away from various locations. Management was very friendly and breakfast was exactly what i asked for.
