This really is a tropical paradise, walk from the sand in front of the resort straight into the water and drift with tide over the coral reef to see hundreds of different fish siwmming around you. Or relax in the pool when the tide is out.
We booked a beach front villa, absolutely beautiful. Even the lesser rooms looked amazing and only steps away from the beach. Can’t rate the staff highly enough. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. Definitely go back again.
antastic place to spend your time.
Mantaray Island about 3.5 hours from the main island in Fiji in the Yasawa Island group, is a beautiful little hamlet of paradise.
I spent 5 nights in a Reef Bure (With AC) an was extremely impressed with the cleanliness and general upkeep. The outdoor bathroom is an absolute highlight with its 3 different light/mood settings at night. The Bure itself was also only 12 step from the beach with its beautiful torquay blue water.
Great snorkeling is on offer straight off the beach (High tide only) and a lovely hotel pool for low tide.
The Restaurant served amazing meals on a set menu that changed every 2 day’s (B,L,D) and during the day you can swap your lunch meal for a pizza by the pool if you like, the resort also offers diving (Which I didn’t do this time) and a Spa that offers a limited but good range of massages.
The Hotel is a cashless hotel, so you don’t need to have a wallet full of cash like I had.
Overall this is a very good 4 star operation in the Yasawa group, and I am definitely looking to come back in July-September next year when the Mantaray swim past the Island.
This resort mostly caters to the under 35 group. We had a bungalow in a quiet area away from the dorms, right on the beach. You could snorkel from your room or take a short boat trip to snorkel other areas and see manta rays. Meals are in addition to the room cost-set fee per person per day. The food was really good and the chef made us an anniversary cake that was divine.
The resort is fantastic if you are looking for a quiet on the beach stay. If you want luxurious accommodations this is not the place but it is very nice and comfortable for us. Walked out the front door to the ocean and reef snorkeling right there. Awesome.
This was such a lovely relaxed but well presented resort. The coral reef snorkling is fanrastic from the beach. The staff were lovely the food was Its a perfect 3 star resort, would highly reccomend for a low key relaxed holiday.
The beach villas were amazing, especially the outdoor shower. It was quite humid so towels and such were a little mildewed but that is expected in remote tropical locations. The only thing i did not appreciate at this resort was that there was a mandatory expensive food charge that was not mentioned when booking! You were forced to pay for 3 meals per day whether you wanted 3 meals a day or not at the restaurant. It would be much nicer and more fair if they had a la carte dining at the restaurant. Other than the dining issue it was a great small quiet resort with activities to do.
As a slight caveat, we don't have ANY experience with other resorts anywhere. However, with that said, we had an absolute wonderful time here. Every staff member was friendly, accommodating, and just good people.
There is a compulsory meal plan but, for Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner, the food was honestly amazing and when broken down, affordable.
The views are also amazing. To be able to look out from our room (Family Reef Bure 1) and see a blue ocean was something that we don't get to see from the US.
Plenty of activities to do at the resort including being able to just go out and snorkel close to the shore and still experience a beautiful coral reef full of vibrant fish. The experience of getting to go out and snorkel around Manta Rays was also something I won't forget.
I wanted to give a big vinaka to the staff including Lucia, Save, Mere, Noah, Gina, Dive Instructors Nieko, Charle, and Handre, and Snorkeling captains Pate and Jack.
Overall, we would definitely come back here when visiting Fiji and will recommend it to anyone thinking of vacationing here.
We travelled with two teenage boys. We all had a great time. All the staff were very helpful and friendly. Staff were greeting each of our family members from the first day. Diving was great. Snorkling from the beach in front of the resort was amazing. Nice coral full of life. Food was good as well. We had a beach villa. It was excellent and close to the main area of the resort.
A must if you’re island hopping through the Yasawa
Best coral reefs I’ve seen. The service was decent, everyone was very kind and hospitable. Some times you have be a little persistent if there’s a certain activity you want to do, mostly due to staffing issues I think. I think a good way to fix this is to have the front office get if WhatsApp to communicate with guests better. Food was mediocre to good. The only fish they served was Waloo which can be harsh on the digestive tract for some people.

Absolutely brilliant. The view from the reef bure down to the ocean is amazing and you are just a few steps away from being in the water from your bed.
The staff are lovely and prompt to answer your requests. The activities are varied and all done to a very high standard - all in all a great stay.

The property was clean and well maintained. The staff were excellent and very eager to please. We hired snorkelling gear from the dive hut and found it to be below standard. The purge valve was clogged with sand and the clasp in my mask was absent. Otherwise, everything was great!
The staff is what makes this place great! everyone is so friendly, commited to your time there. The location is awesome with 360 fijian water views and the onep lace that offers mantaray swims. The swims however can be packed with people and it does feel odd to have 20 people in the water to look for 1 to 2 manta rays for about 30 mins to an hour. not sure if thats the experience you would want. Its also located in a place where its quite windy with current that when you snorkel it can be difficult but overall with the abundance of coral and fish its beautiful. I think the place can also do more on consveration and eco tourism esp saw tons of coral bleacing and destruction and even i had a hard time with my fins with the current to not hit the coral at the shallower end. Things like suggesting ot use reef safe only sun screen, some dos and dont about the coral to protect can help. another thing to note is everything here is an add on in terms of $$, your meal plan only includes so much and if you want to eat at differnt ime or want something else, its extra money, the snorkels and dives are extra money etc. that said id definitely stay here again and overall fiji is great.
I cannot say enough good things about my time at this resort. It definitely exceeded all of my expectations. The location is beautiful, the meals were good, the room (beachfront villa) was amazing and the staff were wonderful.
The ONLY word of advice I have is to make sure you bring a few between meal snacks with you. There are no options to grab a little something to snack on after hours of snorkeling…. IF you are actually willing to get out of the water.
I had tears when it came time to leave. There is no question about going back. All ready planning my next trip.
If you've done your homework and you know what to expect when you arrive, this place is excellent for a few days away.
The staff are so friendly and helpful - they get to know you by name almost immediately. For a place with dozens of people coming and going every week, that's a really nice touch, so thank you Rosa, Mika, Ropate, Taveki, Save, and so many more.
We stayed in the beachfront villa so I can't speak to the quality of other accommodations, but we were happy with the room. The shower was open to the sky but we didn't have problems with bugs in the room or anything. Just keep the door closed most of the time.
Being able to sit in a beach hammock and watch the sunrise was fantastic. The main guest lounge near the beach has drinks and snacks, along with easy access to the dive shop, activity bure, and plenty of places to relax.
The quality of the meals was one of our favourite things of all, and we always left the dining area feeling satisfied.
Some things to note (not bad things, just good to know):
- not all drinks are included with the meal plan. Water is drinkable around the resort and morning coffee/juice up in the dining area is free, but everything else ranges from $6.50-$25 depending on what you get.
- the resort is built onto a hillside, so you'll be climbing up and down some paths and stairs a few times every day.
- you can get cell data on site with a Fiji e-SIM.
Overall we loved it. Go to disconnect, relax, eat well, and enjoy the sea around you.
Manta Ray island is such a magical place. There’s so many things that I can complement on: how convenient (& beautiful) it is to get to, the delicious food offered, how stunning the views are, and more importantly how amazing the staff is—the staff are definitely the heartbeat of the resort. A special acknowledgment for Mili, Exxon, and Save for making our trip memorable. Vinaka Vakalevu!
Everything here is AMAZING! The resort, staff, food, vibe, snorkeling, views, beach, and on and on. Highly recommend for all types of travelers (solo, family, couples). Very peaceful and tranquil place. We had an unforgettable experience. Cannot rave enough about the snorkeling. Out of this world!
We had two family reef bure for five days and our experience was universally excellent. The food portions were generous and well-prepared. We were shocked how good the service was so far out from Nadi. The resort focuses on customer care and looks after their house reef. The beds were comfortable and everyone loved the outdoor (but private) showers.
