"I have been genuinely impressed by this hotel. The staff are calm, friendly and professional. Service is excellent and done with a delicate balance of being available without being intrusive/being in the background without being absent. It's lovely.
There are several parking spaces but if you struggle to find one and are staying at the hotel the staff are very good at trying to advise you... There are loads of spaces along the road with a max of 5 mins walk (not sure what August is like).
Food is delicious. Breakfast does the job with a brief menu, starting at a reasonable time (7am weekdays and Saturday I think, and 0730 Sundays) and goes on to 10am. Dinner was outstanding - admittedly the night I ate, there was a music event in the pub below the hotel, but I found it added to the more casual atmosphere that this hotel offers. Classy casual. Sprezzatura.
Rooms have a simple elegance. Two minor things I would highlight - I'm not a fan of televisions in bedrooms but respect that many people do. It would be nice to see televisions like the Samsung frame with white framing instead of the televisions in the rooms currently. They look a bit out of place. Having a more concealed device (the Samsung frame would do this very well) would be a great move.
The second thing is lack of air conditioning. Admittedly it was 33 degrees when I was staying. The reception provided me with a great tower fan, and I actually slept very well despite the heat.... So perhaps not a worry."
