"The Lairds House is a unique place to stay. It has an historic charm and well furnished hotel rooms. I also ate there and the meal was good, but did suffer from an upset stomach after. In the morning as a result I had a very simple breakfast, avocado on toast which was slightly below par. My main concern was having booked through Expedia there was a dog fee which wasn’t clear of £15. "The staff were very friendly and very helpful. The entire experience was above what you would expect for a relatively cheap three star hotel."

"I stayed in the dog friendly room which was ok but not great. The carpets were stained and when we first walked in the room we could smell dog it wasn't a fresh smell. There was a half used toilet roll in our bathroom and no fan so it steamed up quite quickly. The room was at the bottom of the beer garden so was very noisy which wasn't that much of a problem. "The meals were excellent both for quality and price, staff very helpful. The bed was comfortable however the windows did not close entirely. It was quite warm so not a major problem for us but the windows needed refurbishment so they be opened or closed easily. The electric shower was very weak. These issues were relatively minor given the pluses of staff, food and comfortable beds"
