"Firstly i must praise Tristan on reception. Helpful, sorted a problem out for me instantly, and with a smile. Imperial is my favourite place, however i have to mention the public toilets downstairs were a real mess, and our evening meal was disappointing. Lets say not as described and vegetables missing. It will not deter me from returning but it did tarnish our stay a little. Every member of staff amazing apart from Chef."
"Lovely breakfast staff very helpful also very good service to disabled people nice entertainment each evening the rooms are clean but can be a bit small in the standard rooms"
"We stayed for two nights after booking what was advertised as a four‑star relaxing luxury spa hotel with spectacular views. Unfortunately, our experience fell far short of those expectations.
On arrival, the hotel was clearly under renovation, with builders present and brick dust throughout parts of the property. The hotel is also located directly on a very busy main road, which significantly impacts the sense of peace and relaxation. While the reception and restaurant areas appear to have been recently refreshed, the remainder of the hotel feels tired and run down.
We paid extra for a suite advertised with lake views; however, these views are only visible if standing up. When seated, the view is completely blocked by the wooden balcony. The balcony furniture was broken and unusable, and there were cobwebs above the bed that gave the room a neglected feel. The bathroom was extremely small, to the point that toiletries had to be stored in the bedroom, and there were visible holes and marks on the walls. Noise was another issue, with very thin walls and constant traffic noise from the road.
The outdoor areas were unusable due to overgrown weeds and stored building materials, and there was no dock as shown in the hotel photos. The outdoor spa was closed due to the building works, and although indoor spa facilities were offered instead, guests had to walk through the hotel in swimwear as the changing rooms were also closed. The robes provided did not fit properly (I am a UK"
"The staff, food and cleanliness of the Doric is fantastic. It was our second visit and it did not disappoint. I can not speak to highly of the doric."
"We stayed in a courtyard room which was excellent, the bathroom was exceptional. All the staff were very helpful, polite and cheerful. The only disappointment was that for some reason the restaurant was closed so we tried the brasserie and we were not at all impressed, a very burnt burger, so we ventured out each evening and there are some very nice restaurants nearby. The location of the hotel is idyllic on the lakeside and the aquarium, cruise boats and steam train are just across the car park. We would happily stay again"
"The rooms are clean and comfortable. Personally, I’m not a big fan of the pillows.
Some areas could use a bit of paint to rejuvenate them.
Special mention to Gaz in the Starbucks. He’s exceptional and always remembers your order. Little things like that create goodwill."
