Our room was huge and we have our Daschund with us that’s why we chose best western. The room was clean. The staff were. Cordial. We did not really care for the breakfast as we need to leave early. Overall it was a nice stay here. Tye down side is we can feel and hear people walking on the upper floor.

The rooms were spacious and clean. The staff was awesome. The pool area left much to be desired. FIrst off its TINY!! Then there are no lights for night time use. The hot tub was luke warm at best and missing tiles. The breakfast was pretty good for a continental breakfast. Staff did a great job making sure the items stayed full. Problem with breakfast was the seating area was minimal and too close to the line. If you were able to find a seat, you were constantly getting bumped into.

Eddie, at reception, was friendly and professional. The rest of the stay was disappointing. The hotel advertises a heated pool which was NOT heated. We were told seasonal fresh fruit would be served at breakfast . There was NO fresh fruit. The room furniture was dirty and smelled musky. There was no air conditioning and opening windows to allow for fresh air was limited to a 4 inch opening. Linens in the bathroom were provided for 2 people (we had 4 in our party). We will NOT stay here again.

The rooms have no AC and the breakfast options are very limited. They leave the windows open for you and the room we got had a box fan, although I did see from outside the hotel that some rooms have a ceiling fan (but ours didn't). Their justification was that the weather in Monterey fluctuates and since the building is so old, there is no AC. But you can't close the window curtains fully, some parts of the windows will always be uncovered, so the room was very bright, noisy, and hot at night. For breakfast, they had a yogurt machine, a waffle machine, coffee and juice, and some pastries. There was no fresh or hot food, no proteins. We were originally supposed to spend 2 nights here but after the first night we decided to leave early. I would NOT recommend staying here.
