We had reservations for a five day stay at the Hilton Rose resort because we had stayed there a year ago and thoroughly enjoyed it.
However, an hour before our flight to Jamaica, American Airlines cancelled our flight and told us that the next available flight would be a full day later. Our stay at the Hilton this year was already a short stay and missing a day because of the flight cancellation made the trip so short that we decided to cancel our plans.
We contacted Expedia, who we used to book the vacation, and they said that they would try to cancel our reservations. However, Expedia said that the Hilton Rose would NOT refund any of our reservation.
This is very disappointing, both because of the loss of our money and because it is a very poor attitude for the Hilton brand in terms of customer service. I expected a Cancellation Fee, but refusing to refund any of our reservation is unacceptable. I am sure that the room reserved for us did not stay empty and was occupied by other guests, so there was little impact to the hotel from our cancellation. I would be open to receiving credit for a future stay instead of a cash refund, but we have not heard anything from the hotel.
