"Room was tired and bed uncomfortable. Car park had no lighting which made it difficult to navigate in the dark."

"Lady on reception charming"

"This was our first time staying at an independent hotel and we were welcomed by a polite staff member. However, the conditions of the room and amenities of it could’ve been better such as the shower, the floor and walls. The shower was mouldy, the floor was very squeaky for both our room and neighbours making the noise doubled and the walls had no purpose whatsoever as they were so thin , hearing neighbours frequently. Our breakfast on the last morning wasn’t served to us and we got told to go...

"Very clean, modern and well maintained. Good central location. Would stay here again. Recommend ear plugs as the shift work traffic can be noisy."

"The Duke of Edinburgh hotel was a gem. I don’t know the history of the building but it’s older; that doesn't mean bad. They have done a great job of renovating the rooms, or at least ours was. It was one of the best rooms we’ve had on our trip. We also had dinner and a breakfast while there and the food at the restaurant/pub was excellent. "Very pleasant stay."

"A beautiful setting. The parkland with peacocks and chickens was great to walk around with our dog. Rooms spacious and clean with good facilities and restaurant food excellent. Staff were super friendly and helpful - a great place to stay especially as a base for walking/visiting the Lake Distrct."

"Well appointed room with everything you need and stunning view."

Our only complaint was that we had to ask for a complimentary drink or similar whilst we were waiting.....they should've offered that immediately, guests shouldn't have to ask, it's the least they can do! Other than that it was a pleasant stay."

"Very helpfull and friendly staff especially Morgan and Megan. Room clean and tidy with a very comfortable bed. Excellent views of Lake Windermere. Food was delicious with superb gluten free options"

"The property has real presence and looks stunning. Its decor is in keeping with the property and looks a bit worn but makes it feel loved. Breakfast was good but we had to wait both days for the food to be topped up as there’s only one waiter trying to do everything. The room was large and bed was comfy. The bathroom was not good no water pressure so water came out very slowly and not very hot. Shower unit was very noisy and no heating for such a big bathroom apart from a towel rail so it was...
