"We stayed for our last 3 nights at Why House and thought it was very special. Henrietta was extremely welcoming and has organised her staff to look after guests in a warm but understated way. Nothing was ever too much trouble. We found it very easy to get chatting to other travellers and met some lovely people there. The property is a beautiful oasis where we could relax after the hustle and bustle of exploring Sri Lanka. We saw peacocks, monkeys and lizards visiting the lush gardens and really enjoyed our final day just relaxing by the pool where there was plenty of shade. The food was excellent and all served in an open pavilion unless you wanted to eat on your verandah for more seclusion. All in all we thought Why House was stunning, comfortable and friendly. We enjoyed meeting Henrietta and Lettie the dachshund and would definitely stay there again on our next trip to SL."

"The room was very clean and the staff were all very helpful. The hotel is luxurious. Two beautiful pools and very good food. The views are stunning over the ocean. The beach is not suitable for swimming due to heavy surf and a strong side current but Talpe beach a 1.5k walk or tuk-tuk away has a safe beach behind a reef. "

"Let me start we arrived at the hotel staff was super friendly right from the beginning. As we we’re walking to see our room we went towards the water to find out no beach since we are beach people my wife started to lose it I said let’s see the room first as she is telling Me I am not staying here . We go up to the room it was beautiful and comfortable! Well she opens cabinets where tv is supposed to be no tv boy she wanted to murder me . I said let’s spend the night and we will talk about it . Next morning we wake up have amazing breakfast and decide to sit by beautiful pool over looking the ocean how beautiful it was just like being on the beach without the sand she loved it ! Wow things got even more amazing find out that internet was so strong that she gets all her shows and she got into reading she was so happy ! Then we started to get to know the staff and they could not do enough for us the chef made us anything we wanted anytime we wanted I can’t say enough how perfect and fast the two weeks went. We travel all over the world to some of the biggest and best hotels and resorts in the world this hotel was intimate and small and we probably had one of the best times and felt at home at all times if I can recommend any hotel, this would be the one Amazing me I am not staying here "

"This property is a rare example where the reality is better than the photos. It is so often the other way around. It is a unique villa, situated right on the beach with a safe and lovely swimming area just down the steps from the back garden. The pool is lovely if you don't fancy going in the sea, and you can walk along to see the green turtles arriving every morning and evening on Thalpe beach. This is one of the most majestic sights. You do not have to pay anyone to see them - you can walk and see them yourself, and even swim alongside them should you choose to. I had a lovely room on the first floor with a balcony where I spent time reading and enjoying the views. A great place for a solo traveller, too."
