I was also a little sceptical when I saw Belle Vue’s exceptionally high rating, but after staying there, I completely understand it. The guest house really was exceptional. The décor was stylish, the bed and furniture were very comfortable, and the location and grounds were lovely. "Great place to stay for Forest Live. Hotel is lovely, warm and welcoming. It was a warm day so quite hot inside but we spent time outside in the huge gardens, the bar was open and we sat next to the river. Breakfast was superb, fresh fruit and proper butchers sausages! Would definitely stay again."

"A lovely location and great facilities. Great staff and bar area had a lovely atmosphere. Morning breakfast was delicious with attentive staff. Rooms were very quiet, hotel had a lift which is very convent as the steps are steep to the 2nd floor. The rooms are a little tired and the bathroom window privacy screening is in desperate need of replacement. Kettle is completely scaled up and cups were also dirty so this needs to be addressed. Ok Value if the above were dealt with then it would be...

"Room & bathroom were small but clean a well kept, very near road , unable to have windows open due to a warm evening. The room did have AC"

"Had to ask for clean towels and coffee sachets. Also had to ask for room to be cleaned and bedding changed after 3 days. So a 7 day stay only changed once. Lights not working. Shower connected to taps so unable to control water temperature. Shaving light above sink not working. Towel rail in bathroom got dangerously hot and was held together with insulating tape. A small step down to the room had no hazard warning tape or aluminaton, tripped over going out and fell down going in."

"The staff, in particular, the receptionists including the charming Lithuanian girl, were so helpful and informative. The food was pretty good as well and well presented. Having had to slum it in a rival establishment a few years’ ago, when there was no room at Poets Corner, it was a relief to note how well looked after we were."

"Rooms are comfortable and very clean. Breakfast is cooked to order and of an excellent quality. The staff are all helpful and efficient. The hotel is ideally situated for access to the town centre, Dad's Army Museum, bus station and is about 15 minutes' walk from the train station. The bar is welcoming and serves a good selection of drinks. There is a small outdoor courtyard area in which to sit if the weather permits.
