"It all started with when we arrived and the hotel staff said we had no reservation. We showed them the printout of our reservation and the would not honor. The hotel is far from what's in the picture. It's vert dilapidated and unkempt. It smells really bad. "Mizingani Seafront Hotel is an atmospheric, character-filled heritage hotel in a wonderful Stone Town location. It is not a modern, polished resort-style property, and that is really part of its appeal. The charm is in the old-world Zanzibar feel: the carved timber, arched balconies, tiled details, sea views, inner courtyard and slightly labyrinthine layout of rooms, staircases and quiet corners. The property has a real sense of place. You feel the history of Stone Town around you, while still being close to the waterfront, Forodhani Gardens, the ferry area and the main sights. The courtyard pool area is especially lovely — almost hidden away from the busy seafront — and gives the hotel a calm, intimate feel. For travellers who enjoy atmosphere, heritage architecture and a property with genuine character rather than something sleek and generic, Mizingani is a memorable place to stay."

"There are so many blessings waiting for you at the Tembo House, but the A/C was my saving grace 🌞! The pools were clean and inviting. The room was furnished with history and luxury (we stayed in a triple room). The staff were like meeting old friends and being treated like family. Lounging at the beach and watching the Friday night scene was exciting, charming, and safe. The hotel is located in the heart of the Stone Town experience. My family (wife and 2 pre-teen sons) cannot wait to return. Will stay here for all our future Stone Town adventures!"

"All meals, breakfast, lunch and dinner had extensive selection for all tastes and needs. All excellently, prepared fresh and delicious. We were fortunate to have an upgrade to a large 61m ocean view suite which was extremely comfortable. All staff were extremely helpful and with big smiles. First time we have stayed at this chain of resorts and best we have experienced."

"Amazing staff who looked after us so attentively throughout with amazing and friendly service which made the holiday. The property is immaculate on a beautiful beach setting. Very quiet and perfect for a relaxing break. Food was varied and kept interesting. Fantastic breakfasts in particular though meat and fish dishes were a bit disappointing - generally very tough and left us feeling guilty at having to leave food that could’ve been improved. But overall a fantastic stay and would not hesitate to return"

"On it's own away from the outside area, this is an excellent property. The beach can be accessed by others but that is not an issue and the beach traders are not intrusive. Shopping, dining, leasure and activities all catered for on site but trips out can also be organised from within the complex. But the the thing that makes this place are the staff, from the gardening team to head chef, each and every one was courteous, helpful and happy. Well done staff you make this place."

"Had a lovely stay at Riu Jambo Zanzibar. The beach is stunning, the staff are very friendly, and the food was great with plenty of choice. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the overall atmosphere was relaxing and enjoyable. Would definitely recommend it for a beach holiday."
