"Everything was clean. I loved my room. It’s not the most updated place in the world, but it had its own charm. It’s warm and inviting. The staff was great, and had good suggestions for tours. It’s kind of a pain not having anything nearby. No convenience stores or coffee shops. You have to take a train or Uber. I tried the connected restaurant twice and did not care for it. It’ll do though with nothing else around. Overall, it was a good value and I felt safe and comfortable"

"We had to check in late as our train was delayed. Unfortunately the guest house is not staffed after 11:30pm. So we had to pay extra for a late check in. The staff wasn’t friendly or welcoming. He was instead racist as he was asking where we were from and when we informed him he said no wonder. I wondered what that statement meant. The room was quite dusty. "Lovely room and castle! The bed was SO comfortable! The food at the restaurant and the breakfast were fantastic!"

"Good stay and affordable price. Quick bus ride or easy walk into the center of town. Request a room away from one of the access points as it could be noisy at night as people were locking or unlocking the access door. Bathroom could have been slightly better maintained. Hotel unfortunately uses single use plastics for their toiletries."

"The Abbey Residence has a rooming house feel. We had a spacious room with large but dated ensuite. The walls could use a lick of paint, but there were no real issues with the room. Wifi was good and our room had a good sized Roku based smart TV with lots of streaming options. Parking in central Edinburgh is hard so leave your car at the Abbey Residence and catch the bus into town from the bus stop just across the road. "This place is awesome! We stayed in the family room for four and it was comfortable, clean and spacious. Free pre-check in and post-check out luggage storage onsite. Great location right in the middle of the Royal Mile action, yet providing a quiet night’s rest. In room A/C a definite plus."

"The hotel is in a great location just off the Royal Mile. The room was nice too. The air conditioning didn't work the best but we managed to stay comfortable by opening the windows for a bit. The biggest complaint is the location of the room. We were in the Cockburn Street rooms meaning we had to take the elevator up to the 5th floor, navigate thought the halls to another building and then down the elevator to the 4th floor where the room was. It was a bit of a maze with little bits of stairs...
