The single bedroom apartment with the sofa bed was incredibly spacious. Importantly, there was a laundry machine that proved exceptionally helpful. We arrived a bit early before check in so the big lockers in the lobby area were also very helpful. One locker fit two full check in sized pieces of luggage. The AC worked really well even in the Madrid summer heat. The location is walking distance from the palace, the Prado, retiro Park. There is a great, little supermarket next door that kept us stocked. With that said, there are a couple notable drawbacks to the location if you’re not specifically there for the night life. It’s literally surrounded by night clubs so keep that in mind. We were on the second floor, and the bass from the clubs woke us up early every morning. The clubs keep going to 6:00 AM at least Friday, Saturday and Sunday morning. I believe they call it quits at 4:00 AM Monday morning. It’s kind of gross but also efficient that every morning after the clubs shut down the city literally hoses down the streets. We had the kids sharing the sofa bed though, and the sound of the bass didn’t carry into that room. Given the attractions that are in walking distance, the place gets mobbed, especially around plaza del Sol, which is right around the corner. Picture a Times Square level of people. The Sonder staff communicated very quickly with us over the app when we needed toilet paper and clean towels. Overall, a positive experience with some caveats.
