This was our first visit to Lyon and so happy we chose Hotel Le Phénix in old Lyon. Minutes away from cafes, bars and shops and a short walk across the bridge to Belcour Square. Though the streets were busy all night our hotel room was quiet. Spacious room, comfy bed and extremely friendly helpful staff. Two suggestions: best coffee (won award 2026) Puzzle cafe and best Lyonnais restaurant Fiston.

Everyone was friendly and welcoming from the moment we arrived. The hotel is smaller and local which is always our preference. The room was very clean and beautiful with tall ceilings and a fireplace. We chose a room with a view though I would have preferred it to be on a higher floor. Something to ask for next time. The location was fantastic for walking to many sites in the old city. All around a wonderful stay!

The staff was exceptionally helpful and kind. Breakfast was fresh and delicious with many options. The lobby is very clean and stylish. The guest room is in need of updating. This is common because of lost operations during Covid. It didn’t matter.

This was the perfect hotel for my one night stay in Lyon. The staff was kind and helpful. The location was convenient, near many good bouchons and an easy walk to all the main tourist sites. The room itself was comfortable, cool, and quiet despite facing the road. I would stay again.

Le Phenix is in a perfect location in Vieux Lyon -- easy walking distance to the Fourviere funicular, the Roman amphitheatre, and wonderful food all around the streets. I arrived around 9 PM -- the desk clerk attempted to charge me for my pre-paid room -- I had to show him the Expedia app showing my pre-payment. My room was clean but very small and a good thing I'm only 5 ft 6 in or I would have hit my head inside the room! The furnishings were basic. The bed had a distinct list to one side. The breakfast was good and the daytime desk clerks helpful with maps and directions.
