"The property itself was beautiful in a great spot overlooking the Firth of Forth . Our room was fine with a sea view. The Spa and pool area was very good.. However our room seemed to be next to a boiler of sorts on a timer every 15 minutes it started up even during the night which wasn’t great for sleeping . The staff who were all young had an attitude as if someone had stolen their sweets ! Young adults need direction from management in how to treat guests so I would cut them some slack...

"The location was supreme, and the room spacious and comfy. The building is older so noise of other guests was easily heard but only when groups left in the morning for golf. Not much can be done about that, other than that it was excellent."

"If you’re looking for a unique quiet medieval castle experience this is the place to stay. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Grounds were incredible, breakfast and dinner were very nice. Second oldest golf course in the world wasonly 3 miles away. Beautiful walking trail with view and historical stone marker at the capture location of Mary Queen of Scots. Would definitely stay again. "It’s an older hotel, the other side of the bridge from Edinburgh so cheaper by miles. It’s decent with plenty of parking. Bar is open 24 hours in the foyer. Breakfast was decent hot and cold buffet style. Would stay again."
