"Lovely property. You need a car if going to old Matera. Grocery store close by. Pretty grounds and great pool (although like most Italian pools, not heated.) we found easy parking lots near the historic area so it is ok. The photos are deceiving because the spa whirlpool tub is not included - you have to pay 100 euro per couple to use those amenities. That should be made clear in the listing or they shouldn't show the photos. " Cave" hotel room is fun but only a window at door and in bathroom....

"We absolutely loved our stay of 4 nights at Thymus! Incredibly clean and so cool to stay inside a cave. Breakfast outside while looking at the hills of matera will never be forgotten. Well worth every penny!"

"Ich hatte eine ausgezeichnete Zeit in Matera. Die Wohnung war direkt am Beginn der Fußgängerzone gelegen. Kurze Wege in die Stadt und zum Bahnhof. Die Dusche hielt leider nicht richtig. Sonst top."

"The room was so cool, like not hot. Barton and sitter were great. Cold fridge with waters. Confident bed. The breakfast was good with hands and cheeses and juices and pastries. It was a good spot. You’re basically in a cave like all the houses there but it’s dressed up nice. Definitely some moisture in the air but during a heat wave it was not a problem coming back to the room after climbing the steps of the city all day. Staff was friendly, very good overall"

"The location is very close to the Sassi, which was my main objective. The parking garage was also very close and convenient. Our room was fine, small shower but to be expected in Italy! All good. Now, let me tell you about the sweet host, so helpful! He set up breakfast for us, baked fresh croissants with jams and nutella, made wonderful coffee and offered yogurt, juice, Matera bread ( the best!) we were a group of 6 filling all of his rooms for the night. Perfect stay for us!"

"Everything about our stay at the hotel was excellent, such a great location ! Our room was so lovely and how fun to sleep in a beautiful cave .
All the staff were so helpful and kind from the moment we arrived. Breakfast was delicious and special to have piano music to begin our day .
