Front desk staff was very pleasant and helpful. Loved the variety of menu selections for dinner and the free breakfast buffet is the best I’ve ever had.
The location of this hotel is outstanding! The views are perfect for chilling at the hotel and you can easily take the daytime to tour the Ring of Kerry sites.
The view and lake is beautiful - and 5 star. The hotel is quiet with seats to sit and look outside. I wish there was a congregation area beside bar to sit and have drinks. They made us leave the area when dinner was served at bistro.
The service was not as good as other places we stayed. No one offered to help with bags (one in our party was elderly) the keys kept deactivating and while waiting in line to get it fixed a party of 15 was checking in and there was only one person at desk. So it was frustrating to have to wait a while (over 10 min) for something that wasn’t my problem in the first place. Bar staff were friendly. I found one or two workers at front desk and breakfast area rolling their eyes and being a little rude. Not what I’d expect from such a beautiful hotel.
One staff even asked if I was with “the group” when I was wheeling 2 suitcases out. When I said no he just went back to his business and didn’t even offer to get the door for me.
So even though the view is 5000 % worth it I think they sacrifice service knowing that will bring people in. The breakfast daily was free with my reservation. An unexpected surprise. And it was delicious with a great variety.
This place was exquisite and we plan to return in the future. The staff was very helpful and delightful. The restaurant was outstanding for both breakfast (excellent buffet) and dinner (spectacular). The setting is beautiful and walking distance from Muckross Abby and Muckross House. The walking paths are tranquil and well kept. A beautiful place that we LOVED and highly recommend.
Beautiful views surrounding the property. Fine dining was excellent. Deers, swans and herons using the area can't be bad. Four poster bed with balcony overlooking the castle ruins, lake and surrounding mountains.
We absolutely loved our stay at The Lake Hotel Killarney. Our room was clean and comfortable with a fantastic shower and a Dyson fan that came in handy when it got humid. The view from our window of Lough Leane was incredible. It’s hard to find a bad view anywhere in the hotel.
The location was perfect. We spent our days exploring the beauty of Killarney National Park and our evenings relaxing at the hotel. We ate several meals there and each one was excellent. The breakfast buffet had plenty of choice, and we really enjoyed the bar and the many cozy lounge areas. One night we ate outside and the manager kindly turned on the heaters for us, which was much appreciated.
The staff were friendly, helpful, and had great timing when it came to conversation. Everything felt easy and relaxed.
Now, for the only tiny hiccup. I ordered the cheese plate and spent a good ten minutes trying to figure out why everything tasted like a spice cupboard. Turned out the crackers were packed with cumin and completely overpowered the cheese. They’d be great with hummus or baba ganoush, but not so much with delicate Irish cheese. A simple cracker would do the trick.
That very minor detail aside, we had a wonderful stay and can’t wait to come back. This hotel is a gem in a stunning location, and we’ll be recommending it to everyone we know.
Beautiful property with lots of character. Staff is amazing, friendly and helpful. Buffet breakfast was delicious with a great variety of eggs, meats, fruits and flavored waters. Live music at the bar was incredible. Highly recommend this if you visit Killarney. The town is cute and the hotel is close to the forest for hiking and biking
Situated on the largest of the Lakes of Killarney, with a herd of red deer and the ruins of a medieval castle on the grounds, this is a must-stay hotel for anyone in or near Killarney. I'd been there three times before so it was already one of my all-time favorite places. It's peaceful and beautiful beyond words, with plenty to do within bus, driving or tour distance-- but also a place just to feel happy to be alive. Good food, excellent service, live music. Just celebrated my third birthday in a row there and plan to return for another next May. Repeat visitors are the norm for the Lake Hotel.
Thus was a nice and relaxing stay. Its location to sightseeing was the best. The staff is so friendly and you can do a whole bag of laundry for 25 euro.
This was everything I hoped it would be. Beautiful scenery, easy access to town, lovely accommodations, unique architecture and rooms with fireplace to read.
Breakfast was fantastic
I can't wait for the chance to return
This property was gorgeous and the hotel is old fashioned in just the right way. Enormous room, great bed, great meal in the bistro (a vegetarian dal that was surprisingly fabulous) and a lovely staff member who helped us plan a hike in the park and gave us loads of great ideas.
