It was awfully packed over the full moon weekend (would not recommend visiting during this period)! This pavilion-like structure at the front Paththirippuwa, or Octagon. It is a symbol of identity in Kandyan Architecture. In the olden days, the king would stand there to address his citizens who were gathered in front of him. The golden roof behind stands over the Buddha tooth relic that this temple is famous for. Welcomed with open arms. View is spectacular Owner is friendly and wants to please Tuk Tuk driver is knowledgeable, a good driver and a gentle soul. Food opportunities in the area are available at the bigger hotels nearby but are not outstanding . I fact very ordinary. Better off to get Arjuth to take you down the hill. He knows the good places and is happy to help. Breakfast is included in the very reasonable room charge. Sadly though, the hygiene of the kitchen and surrounds leaves a lot to be desired. The place is a bit grubby and run down. Even though I'm being a bit harsh I would go back I would reccomend it for the people ,the view ,the seclusion and I suppose the price

The good: 1. Owner and cook are nice people. 2. Good view from the room. The bad: 1. You are at the mercy of the staff as this is a remote place. 2. They charged a lot for a very basic breakfast, almost 5 times what you would get outside for better food. 3. No air conditioning and dirty rooms. There was a dead frog in our bathroom. Dust bin was very dirty. 4. The view was blocked by trees. 5. No telephone or credit card in this hotel. They want only cash. There are other properties nearby that seem to be well-maintained. The staff was very nice.

Redhill kandy

Det var slitet, hål i lakanen, trasiga dörrar ut till balkongen.knappt något tryck i kranarna inget varmvatten ingen AC och ingen fläkt. Rummet var fuktigt på morgon och kväll. Personalen var väldigt trevliga och maten var god. Bra frukost.

I stayed at the hotel two night with my two daughters. Saapuminen: Mikäli saavut Kandyyn julkisilla kulkuneuvolla niin suosittelen taxin tai tuktukin ottamista sillä kiivettävää riittää. Paikalle saapuessa meidät vastaanotti ystävällinen henkilökunta; omistaja ja kokki. Huone oli kuvien mukainen, sopiva budjettimatkailuun. Näkymät huoneesta olivat mielettömät. Kokki valmisti meille maittavan aamupalan molempina aamuinamme ja toisen vielä erittäin aikaisin ennen junaan lähtöämme.

Authentic homestay

This is a great option for backpacker's seaking an authentic homestay experience. Chulanka is such a gracious host and he helps arrange anything you need. He truly took care of us. You cannot miss a home cooked meal from Mom either.

Great views, great service

Service was excellent, especially breakfast. The staff are very helpful and the view from the balcony in the top room was amazing! The hotel is located high up the hillside so you can see for miles.

Wonderful view point from the hotel terrace. It is a real pleasure to see this green view with the river. Hotel staff is doing its best in terms of assistance for food delivery from outside as not much trades in the area. Breakfast is very correct with omelette and fruits. Fresh fruit juice as well. Just make sure to have a room with AC. Very nice experience

Badezimmer ist von oben offen, laut und hat keine heiße Wasser. Der tag war windig und Fenster und Dach war sehr laud, ich konnte ganze Nacht nicht schlafen und das Bett für 2 Leute zu klein.Das Frühstück war sehr gut.

Geat atmosphere. Homely nice hotel.

Nice cosy hotel at the mountains. A bit far from the city but once you go there you will be amazed by the beauty & serenity of the nature. Can enjoy the hilly view all day long. It's run by a mom & son who were very hospitable. Good homely service. The view itself is worthwhile enough. Certainly value for the money

The views from the room were spectacular ,we eat dinner there both nights and the food was terrific home cooking , the only thing that let this hotel down for us was that we stayed two nights and they never cleaned the room or changed the towels !!!!! Which spoiled the experience for us !!!!

Lovely views

We didn't end up staying at Redhill because the room wasn't ready when we arrived, but the owner arranged for us to stay at the neighboring hotel for the same rate and we had a good experience at that hotel. The view from the hotel is beautiful, but the location is a bit off the beaten path and on a steep hill.
