"What a beautiful property! VERY quiet and peaceful. Be aware that there is no elevator and you have to walk up a high steep flight of stairs with your luggage if you’re on the second floor. Also, there’s no staff apparent. You enter the front door and room door with a code. But if you had a problem, you just texted their phone and someone answered promptly to help. As I left I ran into the cleaning person. She was SO nice and friendly. We chatted a bit and at the end she gave me a hug. So...

"I used to think of the Pontchartrain Hotel as the "Grand Dame" along St. Charles. For us it was a worn out disappointment. The first inkling was when we checked in, were given and actual metal key to the room, and warned not to lose it and incur a $250 fine!
