"Great location we could see the lions from our room! Only slight downside was the sofa bed was a little on the uncomfortable side, but we had a great time and the staff were great too."

"Older hotel but good value. It is a group entertainment facility so be prepared for coach tour festivities. Avoid rooms close to the entry to the wing doors. They bang late and start early to wake you. The lifts can be a challenge. Sometimes out of order issues and long waits to escape or exercise your step climbing up and down."
"We had a fantastic stay at the Pinewood Camping Pods and were very impressed overall.
A small thing to note is that the main car park is on the opposite side of the bridge, so you may need to walk over with your luggage. The resort does offer a shuttle service, but it’s worth arranging this in advance.
The food was excellent. We ate at the Garden Room and were really impressed with both the quality and the range of options, especially for children. We also had dinner at the Bear Lodge restaurant, where the food and service were equally good. Throughout our stay, the staff were friendly, professional, and always willing to help. The atmosphere around the reserve is beautiful and makes for a very relaxing break.
If you’re travelling with children, it’s worth checking the buggy policy before booking. The reserve is quite hilly and some routes, particularly the Trojan Steps, can be challenging with a pram and young children. A buggy would have been incredibly useful during our stay in a Pinewood Pod, but we were unable to access one as they appear to be reserved for certain accommodation types. This was the only downside of an otherwise excellent experience.
Overall, a wonderful stay with great food, amazing service, and a unique setting. We’d happily return."
"Modern property, clean, and extremely convenient for access to Central Canterbury. Staff were particularly helpful and professional, 24 hour bar with some food. Excellent breakfast. Parking is located a 5 minute walk away as the hotel is a pedestrian area. Good local restaurants and tea shops are a short walk."
"Hotel facilities, grounds and location were great. Food was nice, but service could have been better. It wasn’t terrible, just not very efficient. They forgot the starter and brought it out after the main course. No-one noticed that we hadn’t got any water, so had to ask. No one noticed when we need more water, so had to ask twice. They seemed to have enough staff, just some training and basic issues that stopped it from being excellent - all things which could easily be fixed. If staff are not going to be vigilant regarding water, then maybe a jug of water on the table would be an easy fix. They did recognise service was slow, and over-compensated in a way (didn’t charge for starter, didn’t add service, gave an extra discount plus an extra glass of wine) - maybe be better to discuss and offer, as we felt they had over-compensated, so left some cash as a tip to balance things out."
"Nice large room with strangely one of the smallest bathrooms even. Hardly any room to move in the shower. Nice views from hotel room. VERY outdated elevator that should have been updated with the rest of the property. Nice location right near the beach."
"Lovely friendly team, nice room and excellent location opposite the superb waterside restaurant. A stone’s throw to the prom and beach and a short walk to the town. The team accommodated my dog who loved it and was at ease in the hotel, prom & town. Well worth a visit"
Dover Marina Hotel & Spa, Tapestry Collection by Hilton
8/10 Good
"I stayed at the Dover Marina Hotel & Spa prior to my cruise and overall had a pleasant stay.
The hotel is full of character and appears to be housed in a historic building, which gives it a charm that many modern hotels lack. My room was comfortable and well-equipped with a kettle, tea and coffee, a safe, hairdryer, air conditioning, and quality toiletries including shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, and body lotion. The shower was excellent with plenty of hot water, and the bed was very comfortable.
The location is one of the hotel’s greatest strengths. It is situated directly across from the harbour, making it a lovely place for a walk, and it is also within easy walking distance of shops and restaurants. The staff were friendly and helpful, including arranging taxis when needed. The breakfast offered good value when added to the room reservation.
My only significant concern is accessibility. There are several steps leading to the main entrance. While there is a ramp, I observed guests attempting to use it only to find the door at the top locked, forcing them to turn around and carry their luggage up the steps. For guests with mobility challenges, wheelchairs, or heavy luggage, this could be difficult and is something I hope the hotel addresses.
Check-in was at the advertised time of 3 p.m. and my room was not available earlier, but there was no delay once check-in time arrived.
Overall, I enjoyed my stay and would recommend the hotel to travellers looking for a comfort"
