"Have stayed in 4 hotels and B&B’s in Eastbourne and this is by far and away the best one I’ve stayed in. Victorian features, stain glass windows combined with a modern style. Breakfast choices were eggcelent with proper sausages and bacon, the “house” scrambled eggs was delicious. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Parking was a bonus as that area of Eastbourne can be tricky to find spaces to park at night. Would definitely stay at The New England again."

"Stayed there for 2 nights,solo female traveller and 11 yo son, he's autistic, however ,I didn't tell the staff about his diagnosis as we always have hotel stays without any problems,on second night he was noisy around shower time started to meltdown which can happen when he is exhausted,was 9:30 pm, I had terrible knocking on the floor,few minutes later,the manager lady came to my door and practically was shouting at me to stop the noise, I was trying my best anyway to calm him down aiming to get him out of shower straight to bed, I don't mind getting notices for this, but the very unfriendly gesture of her made me feel terrible which never happened in many hotels we stayed before, he finally went to bed minutes after she left and was calm . Myself I will never go there again and advise any Sen child parents to think before they book there."

"Registration was cursory. Certainly not rude, just “fill in your details and here’s your key.” No offer of assistance for two seniors to carry suitcases up narrow stairs. No further information offered. Room was adequate. Shower is traditional British style - in a very high narrow tub, very dangerous for seniors in my opinion. Notice in room that no outside food allowed, and may result in an additional charge. Overall good value for money, but more of a two star than a three star hotel. "

Charming 1-bedroom Apartment Near South Downs

"Lovely accommodation. Bed was comfortable. The annexe was quiet. It had everything you could want. Heating was welcomed too. Host was lovely. However, on listing there was no mention that to access the property there were steps. The choice was to go through a gate and walk down seven steps or walk down the entire length of the garden which was sloped downwards towards the property and still go down two steps. I have mobility issues and was using a dog pram to transport my belongings. I couldn't do the seven steps and the other option made me very nervous walking a long way on the wet grass and then still having to navigate two steps. The host helped me a couple of times but I was there three nights so had to manage this mostly myself and it was very anxiety provoking even when just walking with a stick. However, the accommodation itself was lovely and I enjoyed my stay, However, I worry that anyone booking with any kind of mobility issues wouldn't know the issues from looking at the photos and there is no mention anywhere in the listing of steps. If this information had been on the listing I would have not taken it. If you have no mobility issues then this is a lovely place to stay. "

"The property is lovely and separate from the mail house which is nice. The hosts are great and helped us out when we had to stay longer. As described and a great and relaxing boot hole. Particularly nice was milk in the fridge when we arrived for the available tea and coffee. A really nice touch!"

"If you're looking for a peaceful stay in a period country house then Cleavers Ling is the perfect place for you. Our bedroom was comfortable. The breakfast room, with its oak beams and inglenook fireplace set the scene for our host, Sally, to bring us full English breakfasts, (my eggs were poached to perfection). Tea from a large silver service tea pot poured without dripping on the linen tablecloth and the toast from the toast-rack rounded off the meal and set us up for the morning. We were also offered home made banana bread wrapped up for a mid day snack. All this made our three night stay....perfect. Thank you Sally!"
