"Registration was cursory. Certainly not rude, just “fill in your details and here’s your key.” No offer of assistance for two seniors to carry suitcases up narrow stairs. No further information offered. Room was adequate. Shower is traditional British style - in a very high narrow tub, very dangerous for seniors in my opinion. Notice in room that no outside food allowed, and may result in an additional charge. Overall good value for money, but more of a two star than a three star hotel. "

"The staff were fantastic, from the time that I arrived and they advised me about the parking, to the time I checked out and they offered a free late checkout and looked after my 4 bags while I relaxed on the beach for the day. The location is ideal, very close to the beach but in a relatively quiet neighborhood still easily accessible to the Brighton city centre, pier, etc."

"We booked The Relais Cooden beach via Expedia particularly for its location and spa facilities. We had booked the "Cosy double room" because that was all that was left. On arrival we tried to book spa treatments but there were no available bookings during our three night stay. This was disappointing as there was no mention on the Expedia website that you needed to book in advance. Apparently, guests who booked directly with the hotel enjoyed free use of the spa whereas booking through Expedia...

"Room needs a deep clean. Dirty water drip marks on door to bathroom and also some dried brown streeks. Wardrobe had dead inserts on the shelf and base. Towel was worn around the edges, wearing thin and small holes not what I expect from a hotel. No housekeeping unless you paid extra. So had to use the same towel of 5 days. Toiletaries supplied for day 1. The windows were filthy, did not look like they had been cleaned for a year. Externally, the hotel needs significant maintenance. Wifi hardly...

I’m a pescatarian so don’t eat meat so they are missing a trick with the Jamaican fayre as Mac & Cheese would have gone down well however great price and warm welcome and will come back again probably before the summer is finished."

"The staff were amazing from the front desk Darcy and mum to the night porter, who could not do enough for us brilliant. Would recommend to all ages and jealous that we’re not still there. "No public rooms at all - well they were either closed or empty of furniture. No breakfast available. Tea and coffee in rooms though. Lots of seating outside but too hot as no umbrellas or refreshments. Overall it was good value for the price, but the hotels either side were far superior for only a few pounds extra. Quirky? "Starting with the positives... the reception staff were very friendly and the location of the hotel is prime on Eastbourne seafront with a short walk into the Town Centre. The hotel has its own parking behind the hotel for £6 a night and there was almost always a space available. Otherwise there was free street parking from 6pm-8am on neighbouring streets.
