After staying in Tokyo this place was amazing for our family because of the space alone! The property is around an 8min walk from the end of the Hakone Pass cablecar and the ropeway connection. It rained most of our stay but there is a nice outdoor table set and a lot of japanese anime comics (in Japanese) in a lovely takana room with bean bags. Kitchen is well stocked except i couldnt find a knife but theres a lot of plates, bowls etc etc. The bathtub was amazing on the cold days. Would def recommend for larger groups or families in need of stretching their legs a little! The only other thing to note is that it gets pretty quiet around the area so have a dining plan prepared for arrival. I do think check in could be slightly earlier but the email did say you could store luggage from midday.
If you want to hang out at a "college fraternity house" style apartment, this is your place. You are greeted by a can of pesticide, must walk up a staircase that is clearly a hazard, suffer a bath that doesn't work, and a refrigerator full of used condiments. Don't worry, you will receive snarky emails from the owner telling you just how many towels you're allowed to use while you're there.
If you do happen to make it up the stair case without it falling down, don't plan on sleeping. There is a cat who will meow incessantly at your window throughout the night. The owners claim that it's a stray cat, though there is cat food inside the property.
We tried communicating with the property owner, but we're treated as though we were the fools who are banking their vacation house. Highly recommend that you do NOT book at this location.

First let me give the positives: clean comfortable beds. Lots of space. Well stocked, nice kitchen COULD make this a pleasant retreat. The house was ok but more run down than I’d have thought from the photos.
That said, we were not happy with this property overall, mainly because of the terrible communication from the host. Because they did not answer any inquiries about how to get there or how to use the amenities we were left unable to truly enjoy the property or the area and the lack of info on getting there cost me a lot of money. This property is fine if you have a car, know your way around, are Japanese, or if you just have a big group and need lots of space. Amenities did not have translation like many properties provide so we had to just figure it out and host did not answer inquiries to help. You can only get there via public bus or if you have a car. So I wasted a lot of money on a Hakone “free pass” for transportation in the area, that I could not use. I don’t know why the host never replied to any of my inquiries ahead of arriving to just tell me that public bus stop with limited schedule was my only nearby transportation. We would have made other choices.
But there seemed to be no interest in communicating with us. We only got lots of standard messaging from them warning us of extra charges if we brought more people or had pets or didn’t clean properly, issues we did not have. Not a good experience for us.
