"While we enjoyed our visit to the National Park, this accommodation was a bit disappointing compared to the many other stays we have had in New Zealand. A few updates would go a long way in improving guest comfort (replace noisy bathroom fan, replace tiny mirror in bathroom, provide wardrobe, shelf, or hangers for guest belongings). Staff were pleasant and access to the communal kitchen was helpful. "
"I had booked a cabin without an ensuite and used the communal shower very early in the morning to avoid the rush from campers. It was still pitch black when I returned to what I thought was my cabin, where I had left the lights off but locked the door. I put my key in the lock, turned it to open and entered the cabin. I was closing the door to lock it, still in the dark, which in hindsight was just plain stupid, when someone yelled out and turned on the lights. A man was sitting up in the bed looking as startled as I felt. I had mistakenly returned to an adjacent cabin in the dark and my key had fit and turned in the lock, apparently unlocking the door, though I can't confirm that it was actually locked. Luckily, it was obvious I wasn't an intentional intruder as I profusely apologized and left. If the keys are not, in fact, dedicated to individual cabins that would be entirely unacceptable and represent a serious security risk. I am thankful the cabin had not been occupied by a woman, an aggressive person or someone with a weapon!"
"It looks like the place has been going thru renovations. The room has new kitchen and floor, may be carpet too. It is about 15-20 min. to the NP visitor center and many thrailheads and has restaurants and supermarket nearby. Since the room has full pane glass as wall and access door along the corridor ( much like patio door ) which allows full view of the mountains and also tenants walking on the corridor. For privacy, you need to close the curtain."
"The owners were not very kind or understanding. Shuttles to hikes was also confusing and not clear timing, or pickup locations. Make sure to I get confirmations on pick ups and drop off times!!! Or, find another place to stay!! "

"Tracey and Thomas are so very lovely and welcoming and friendly. We loved their lodge - beds are very comfortable, the kitchen is well equipped and it is very clean. What we loved the most was talking to them about the area and their family. We loved our stay!"
