"The rooms are soooooo tired and drab. Very old fashioned. Heavy dusty curtains in the bedroom and bathroom. Patchy and chipped paintwork. The breakfast is ok. But they still serve tinned fruit! Basic bread for toast. Very sad in this day and age!"

"Charming National Trust Queen Anne House now hotel. Excellent service, good food and magnificent garden. Rooms pretty decent and deserving of 4 stars. Very pleasant two day stay."

"Accessible hotel, very clean, friendly helpful staff. Rooms very nice, fresh and modern. Bed and pillows comfy. Great location too."

"The hotel was perfect! The staff was very friendly and was always there to help their guests."

"Very nice hotel"

"Excellent location, great room, amazing staff. Breakfast was very good too. Ample parking. Excellent EV chargers. The one small thing I would change - more bottled water in the rooms. Love the place, will return soon."

"Great place for my quick stop in York. Cozy and clean. Thank you."

"Property lovely, high standard interior. Staff on reception felt a little awkward as if on guard sat at a desk near the stairs but were always friendly. Access was a little difficult due to cars parked around the entrance to the car park. I guess to avoid the additional charge per night extra charge which we paid. Upon leaving our car was covered in tree sap but it will wash off. We stayed for 4 days and no one came into our room to empty our bins, replenish toiletries or restock the hot drink...

"My room needed some updating and the tv did not work well. The bed was comfy and the shower great!"

"You know exactly what you’re getting here. Nice rooms, great location."

"The hotel was very clean and well maintained throughout. The food was good, and the staff were extremely friendly, helpful and welcoming. Overall, we had a very pleasant and enjoyable stay and would happily recommend this hotel to others."

"Historic building with modern makeover of the interior . Very pleasant helpful staff . Well appointed bedrooms everything looked fresh and attractive . Lovely grounds too . Handy for buses into the city . And the bar snacks were excellent too ."

"Hotel needs updating all areas and cleanliness is impacted as a result. Description in Expedia indicates they have clothes washing machines which they do not. Mid trip for us so we depended on the hotel amenity description. Clothes wash machines or sending out with a timely return of laundry neither of which was available. Staff was all pleasant in our interactions."

"Our room was clean and comfortable, and breakfast was delicious. The staff was very kind. I did Not prefer that it is your responsibility to select to have your room cleaned & freshened (the day before you want it cleaned). I feel that a 4 star property should automatically provide daily housekeeping to some extent."
