"The staff was nice. Themission of the historic building turns hotel, is to maintain a relaxing vibe, so no television, no refrigerator, no elevators. Climate control was efficient. A problem was with checking out and their confusion on how to handle a booking that is paid for through Hotels com. Supposedly, it is a new computer system and they'll fix it. So far I'm out close to $180 on top of the amount charged to my cc by Hotels dot com. I have brought it to their attention and will hopefully...

Best Western Plus River Escape Inn & Suites

10/10 Excellent

"I stayed on the second floor in a 2 queen suite with a private balcony. Even with the 2 queen beds, the room was plenty spacious. The beds were excellent! The entire property was extremely clean and well maintained. The balcony overlooking the Tuckasegee River is wonderful. However, if the Best Western people read this, we need more than 2 chairs on the balcony. The amenities are great. There's guest laundry facilities on each floor. However, Best Western people, There's no ice or vending on the second floor. Now there is a well stocked mini-convenience store in the lobby with soft drinks, juices, beer, a variety of snacks and a few microwaveable meals. On the main floor is a gym, several lounge areas with TVs, an indoor heated pool and spa and a large common deck that's just feet from the river. On the second floor atrium that overlooks the lobby, there's a fairly large handmade model of the town of Dillsboro. If you're staying on a different floor, it's worth stopping in on 2 to take a look. One last comment is the location. The property is just off the main highway but is down hill and around a corner where the river is giving it a very private and secluded feel. I really enjoyed my stay and hope you do as well."
