"Everything about the accommodation was excellent, especially the staff! Despite the communication struggles, they were very helpful and provided great service during my stay. "The best thing about the hotel is the Onsen! The price was also reasonable. The hotel is a little on the worn side but still in good shape. It does have a shuttle to/from the echigo-yuzawa station but their hours are limited. The last pickup is 5:30pm if you miss that you will need to hire a taxi (expensive), take a bus (also limited hours) , take the local train to the iwapara station and then a 4 min walk to the hotel (the train is about 1 per hour) or you can walk to the hotel (about 45min)"

"Checkout staff was incredibly kind and helpful. The onsen was welcoming for foreigners and we were informed tattoos were okay too, which was an unexpected surprise. Amenities (including robe for the onsen) were provided and there were vending machines easily accessible as well. Short walk to Yuzawa Station so it was very convenient. Compared to other properties in the area, it was nice to stay in a hotel with a private bathroom for only a slight price increase from hostel-style accommodations. Would recommend!"

"This ryokan was one of the absolute highlights of our Japan trip. As a couple travelling with two young adult kids, it was the perfect place for all of us to slow down and recharge after Tokyo. The biggest highlight was the four private onsens — no reservations needed, yet there was always at least one (often even more) available. It made everything feel so relaxed and effortless. The ryokan itself is small, intimate, and incredibly well thought out, with beautiful attention to detail and high-quality touches like POLA amenities. If you want to experience a true traditional ryokan, this is it. There were hardly any foreigners, and the staff spoke very little English — but somehow we managed just fine, which made it feel even more authentic. The secluded setting adds to that peaceful, escape-from-it-all vibe. The food deserves a special mention — we stayed for two nights and every breakfast and dinner was completely different and absolutely exquisite. It really elevated the whole experience. We were initially concerned about having no bathroom in the room, but it turned out to be the best thing — it gave us more reason to keep going back to the onsen. Our kids loved it so much they’ve already made us promise to return on our next Japan trip. Highly recommend. ✨"
