"Still in the process of new owners taking over, so for example can’t accept Amex yet. Most things remain the same - lots of opportunities for new owners to improve, from a fairly average spa with only a few jets working for 3 minutes at a time, to noisy rooms with average aircon. Breakfast very overpriced and omelettes especially poor."

"This might be the prettiest place I ever stayed at. The scenery is spectacular. The hotel is just perfect. It's a beautiful country-house with exceptional food and the service is great. A++. I strongly recommend this. We did the horse and ATV tour and it's a must do. Fly into Wellington and rent a car to see the beautiful scenery on the 2 hr drive. I would love to return."

"On the info it said "Park in front..." we had to park behind our rooms. It would have been easier if there was a second step leading into the room off the footpath. Good to have a games room, but not much variety of games. Our boys lost a coin in one (Table Ice Hockey) as it didn't work and couldn't find the table tennis balls. "Wow!! Our stay at the Sofitel exceeded expectations! We have stayed at quite a few different ones around NZ and we have to say that the Sofitel is in a league of its own! The staff were amazing and couldn’t help us enough. We were only there for one night but we didn’t want to leave - we will be back. Absolutely worth it. Close to lampton quay too so very central."

"Have stayed at this location multiple times, with each and every occasion being absolutely wonderful! The staff are so lovely and the rooms are always in impeccable condition with a wide variety of ammenities that I still keep being pleasantly surprised by. I always reccommend Totara Lodge when friends and family mention wanting to find lodging near Wellington and have yet to hear any bad reviews from them either!"
