6/10 Okay

"Location is perfect for the beach and walking distance to restaurants. Parking is horendous. The lift didn't work when we visited, which was not ideal for 4 people with health and mobility issues, we were on the 2nd floor. The staires are quite rickety and winding. There wasn't air conditioning, but they did provide a fan. Our toilet seat was broken, we did report it, but was told it was a bank holiday weekend so nothing could be done. The staff we spoke to were lovely. All in all,you get what you pay for. It could do with updating alot as I noted alot of flaking paint and water damage. Would I come to Eastbourne again, yes, this hotel, no."

"All staff we came across seemed happy & friendly. Check-in was easy. The parking is limited, it’s a rarity to have onsite parking in Eastbourne but we managed to bag a space, but the hotel does try it hardest for patrons to get parked in their car park. Our room was spacious and clean. We were seeing a show at the Congress Theatre which was literally across the road, so we were perfectly placed. The promenade and town were an easy nice walk to. The bandstand and Wish Tower were also close by. Breakfast was great and our server was lovely, nothing was too much trouble (sorry we didn’t get your name), but kudos to you 🙂 Overall a very good experience for our first trip to Eastbourne "

The Grand Hotel Eastbourne

"Beautiful building. Needs updating. Room was big but the bathroom was not up to standard for a 5 star hotel eg water pressure was low, the shower units were dated, no separate shower. Perfect lication. Parking available on a first serve as basis unless you pay £25 for a guaranteed parking per night. Indoor pool was okay but the pressure in the jacuzzi was not strong. Only one steam room and no sauna. Breakfast time was bit hit and miss and had to wait anling time to receive our cooked breakfast. Food at the restaurants was good but pricey given the sane food is a fraction of the price outside. We had scaffolding outside our room as there were building works being carried out and we were not told about this at the time of booking. A bit disappointed about this. Beware, not all rooms have air conditioning. The superior rooms only have a/c and more expensive. Not much by way of activities at the hotel in the evenings. All in all I would say its a 4 star at best. Perhaps once the place is renovated to high standard then it will be a 5 star."

Best Western York House Hotel

"I was very disappointed with my stay at the Best Western in Eastbourne. The hotel feels very outdated and poorly maintained. There was no air conditioning in the room, only a small fan, which was uncomfortable especially during warmer weather. The room itself looked tired, with old carpets and paint peeling off in places. The bed was made from metal tubes and felt unstable and shaky every time I moved. The mattress was also very old and even stitched in some areas, which did not feel hygienic or comfortable. Breakfast was very basic and not particularly enjoyable. Overall, the hotel did not meet my expectations and certainly did not feel good value for money. I would not choose to stay there again."

"The reception staff were helpful and very nice, we have stayed at this hotel many times and no to take bottles of water whilst in room, I do feel though that at least 2 bottles should be provided it’s not a budget price hotel, the bath plug was blocked which we did inform the reception at check out for future guests ."
