Traditional hotel right on Eastbourne seafront close to shopping, restaurants and bars. Staff were friendly and welcoming. The room was comfortable, clean and well maintained.

Well priced for a seafront hotel but generally it is very tired. The original double room I was offered had 2 single beds pushed together with 2 single duvets & was a small very basic room. I enquired about a double bed & duvet & was kindly upgraded to a larger room with a double bed. Still tired but spacious.

Had the cheapest room - small, basic, clean, quiet. Great location, the receptionists were all very friendly, were eager to help and smiling. Would highly recommend if you are looking for a budget stay right by the beach.

My go to hotel

I lived in Eastbourne for 30 years and moved away a couple of years ago. If I need to return for a few days, the Riviera is always my first choice. Clean and friendly, certainly good value for money.

Another Riviera visit

Regular visitor. This is by way of a message to the kitchen staff because this time around everything in the hotel was great (which is usually the case)...except for one thing - the breakfast (it must have been the eggs) - suffice to say, for hours afterwards I was having indigestion-like symptoms before nausea struck.

The reception lady was very friendly I don’t know her name she was night shift receptionist. The rooms was very hot due to Heatwave but they supplied fan. The hotel location was perfect everything was walking distance. The hotel could do with furbish meant. The lift was to small for family.

Minor problems - broken lift + at breakfast you don't get much for your money I've stayed there in the xmas period before - they kept the decorations relatively understated this time, but they hardly need them anyway, the hotel looks "festive" all year round

Great value

The good: Great value for money, clean room, daily housekeeping (if you keep the tag on the door handle), friendly receptionists, tea/coffee and kettle in room, clean room and nice decor in the hallways. Particularly liked the heated mirror in the bathroom, although the integrated light was a bit dim (but maybe it’s meant to be a nightlight?). Parking vouchers are available from the reception for £2.20 which will last you till 11am the following day (I.e. you’re covered till checkout the following day. Great location for walks along the beach or Eastbourne Pier. Lots of restaurants nearby and the high street is just a 15 minute walk. Could be improved: - They should have some coat hooks or a stand in the room. We had to keep our wet coats on the chair which probably isn’t great for their furniture either - Washrooms have separate hot and cold taps which was annoying to use (especially in the shower) - Would be nice to have a lamp near the mirror
