"A good place to stop especially for a person with limited mobility. We found all on the level access to the building and to the rooms we used. Would stay there again on our way to Scotland. 😊"

"Loads of parking. Room was clean, perhaps a little cramped for twin beds. A few hooks for coats would be helpful. Shower was very powerful. Toiletries and tea and coffee/water/biscuits were replaced daily! One downside which affected room 8 was the constant flushing of back water in the toilet - not sure if other rooms were affected; just a bit off putting. Breakfast was ok - not special but adequate. The young man who looked after this was great. Always welcoming and polite. The exterior of Rivendell was lovely but the rear looks rather run down. It’s in a good location close to A75 which gives access to many lovely places to visit."

"Lovely old house with traditionally furnished rooms. Off road parking to the rear and the town is only 10-15 minutes away. Great hosts and breakfast."

"Tea was excellent and a great variety. Service always excellent and staff friendly and accommodating. We stayed a couple of days and if back in that area I would stay at this hotel."

"Enjoyable three night break. Friendly helpful staff. Very comfortable bed , room cleaned every day and were allowed to park at the hotel next door. As previously mentioned they serve a great breakfast . Five minute drive to town centre but pub and takeaway nearby. Will book again next time that we visit Dumfries."

"Restaurant good for both breakfast and dinner"

"Easy to find near Dumfries and a nice break into Scotland at the start of our journey. Room was clean and comfortable, and we had the one nearest the ramp so didn't have to climb steps. Room was a bit dark, but easy to move around in, and had sufficient power outlets so we could charge our phones without a problem. Dinner was very good and the owner introduced me to a new ale that i hadn't tried before... great recommendation! We also found out he was the local postmaster, and let us confirm we had the correct postage-- so didn't have to wait 3 days for the post office to reopen! Very helpful! Breakfast was included and there were sufficient options so both of us got what we wanted. Tried Scottish 'tatties' for the first time, too. Lots of quiet country farms all around! Thank you!"
