"Pretty horrific. Given room in alternative building which is open to anyone to walk in to. Went to room and someone was in the bed. Massive fright for both of us. Then back to reception where I was subjected to the third degree like it was my mistake before being issued a new room. I was going to say fresh room but there is absolutely nothing fresh about this place. Brutal. Avoid."

"Where to begin. The staff were all super friendly and polite and the lifts work quickly, I think thats about where the good points end. The hotel is utterly falling apart. The main reception is relatively well maintained and clean looking, the other attached reception is abandoned, falling apart, the bar and resturaunt is closed and abandoned, the main door doesn't work, missing carpets with exposed rotting ply-wood on the floor and walls with random bits of rubbish and broke furniture spread...

"Room was clean, quiet and well appointed. Elevator was appreciated and staff friendly and helpful. location does not show properly on Google map for navigation by car. Close to restaurants Staff was helpful at their sister property, Douglas Hotel, in getting us to the property."

"We upgraded our room to a deluxe and the bedroom was huge, the bed was so comfortable. The room itself was clean and there was some nice features, it could do with a full length mirror . We didn't have breakfast as we thought £15pp was expensive when you can get it for less in town. We stayed on the 2nd floor and wish we had a top floor room the noise from other residents is deafening. Doors slamming and hearing other people's bathroom water running interrupted our sleep. "A nice independent hotel in a great central location. Opposite the bus station and Union Square shopping centre and very close to the rail station. Also within walking distance of many shops, restaurants/bars and attractions. The hotel is on a main road and if you are a light sleeper then this may mean it a bit too noisy for you. The room and hotel in general were very clean. The room was spacious as was the bathroom, both of which were very clean. The only criticism I had was the squeaky...

"Showing signs of wear and tear. Very poor parking facilities with very hefty charges! When someone parked next to me I could not get in the drivers door. A lot of exterior noise from 6.00am. I was maybe unlucky with situation of room. Bed was comfortable and breakfast adequate. Better options in Aberdeen."

"The Mercure is an older and I suspect much grander hotel at one time. It has a sense of opulence about it with wide staircases, high ceilings and stained glass windows, however there are also signs of aging, i.e. worn carpets, old windows. I think it adds to the charm. The breakfast staff were very attentive and pleasant. Breakfast was typical fare, with adequate choices available. My room was well appointed and the bed comfortable. My only complaint was noise made by the fire door slamming...

"The stay at the park in was ok. The curtains in the room were insufficient. With daylight at 4am, the whole room was lit up and made it hard to sleep. I was going to bring up this issue at check out, but was not even asked how my stay was. See attached photos at 4am."
