"The Staff we had dealings with all good and helpful, food ordinary, common areas shabby but ok, room not good particularly the bathroom. No decent beer, best on offer was bottles of tribute. Bars closed at 11."

Limited amenities such as toiletries (toothpaste, bins) no telephone in the room, no fan as well but it’s ok for the price it’s offered. "Room was dirty, window and terrace filthy, however the downstairs lounges, bar and dining rooms were good. Anyone can see the hotel needs a good clean overall."

"Incredible location across from the beach. Room was spacious and had a view of the beach and the pier. These older buildings don’t have AC but a fan was provided as was a small portable fridge. We didn’t try the bar or restaurant so we can’t rate those. We forgot some important items in our room on checkout and the staff were amazing. They contacted us right away when they found the items and offered to have a staff member deliver them to us. Really helpful."

"Stayed at the Grand many times. This time we felt things weren’t to the usual standard. Close to our room the area was being decorated. There were signs apologising but we did wonder, given that the hotel didn’t appear to be ‘to capacity’ why we couldn’t be in an area not being decorated. We were also never far from the noise of pigeons in our room which wasn’t great. At breakfast, we are usually asked if we want anything over and above the buffet. This time, no one did that or indeed...
